This has been asked or discussed before...BUT...I'd like to hear what people's interpretation or definition of "HARD DOG" is...I think too many people think of the wrong thing when this is brought up...

What's your definition of "HARD DOG"? What do you call a "HARD DOG"? Do YOU have a "HARD DOG"...and what does that mean to you and your relationship with your dog?

Jenni - That's not what I said at all. I was saying, generally speaking, IF someone were to say that I had a choice between a random dog from the US or from Europe, I would go with Europe. No one said I was going to randomly import a puppy from Europe; I know that would be a crapshoot WITHOUT you having to tell me. However I know of too many breeders in the states that think they know what they're producing but haven't even gone so far as to title or work their own dogs; some on this forum. IMO, you can't just import titled dogs and decide to breed them just to get puppies that you think can work. But that's fine, because there will always be a market for that, I just won't be a part of it. I'm also not too sure where you're getting the fact that I "don't know what I want" and am "in a big hurry", seeing as how I've already mentioned that my plans for getting a puppy have been postponed for a long time. Sorry, but people putting words in my mouth is my biggest pet peeve. Anyways, I concede, youuu can be right.

Duke, hardly what I said or meant.

Minro, I care not to debate with you about you and your dog(s). Forgive me for remembering previous information and drawing conclusions based on that and your recent posts. I really don't care what you do. I was simply pointing out a common fallacy in the hopes that someone might be spared an import heartache.

Bob, exactly what I was trying to say. This is all pointless until we have an agreed definition on what a hard dog is.

Thank you Duke for your input, which I find interesting; I feel a lot of the comments in this thread are coming from women in the sport, who can't see what I'm saying. It's also true, I've found, women can be more patient with the type of dog I've been alluding to that you are describing as well Duke. Where in the us are this type of dogs being produced?

Can I suggest Alpine K9, Hans Prager in Arizona;  at least talk to him and tell him what you are looking for.  BOL  Nan

Qman, I gave my definition of what a "hard dog" is on the first page of this thread. FWIW, Jim

They don't come much harder bt.    I've been looking for one of those actually for my yard.

Excellent, Beetree. Inarguably hard.
