The Kennel Club can confirm that a German Shepherd Dog was excluded from the Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme Display Ring. This decision was taken upon the advice of the DFS Crufts vet who felt that the dog showed abnormality in the hindquarters. The Kennel Club is dedicated to ensuring that DFS Crufts is a celebration of healthy dogs and in a display ring, where there is no judge to make an executive decision, it is particularly important that the vet takes the responsibility for ensuring that all dogs are sound representatives of their breed.

The Kennel Club can confirm that a young puppy was sent right out of the NEC with her 76 year old owner. The decision was taken upon the very unsound advice of our vet - who works like we do, and does as he is told. The Kennel Club is dedicated to ensuring that Crufts is a celebration to healthy dogs, as far as we can see with our naked eye which isnt very far. We wish to make it clear that we work fairly and it didnt make any difference to us that the 76 year old lady was left to her own devices to get home in tears, because we had made a jobsworthy very happy. In hindsight we now realise that we are complete tossers, although this is not a new realisation,and stand to allow the rest of the nation, nay the world, to know it. We also understand that we shall be hearing more and more about this issue.
And they certainly will. 2 statements in one day, one in the Times saying that NO ONE WAS EVICTED and a statement on facebook as above !!! The statement above gives rise to this DFS Vet (hope he is proud of his new found title) being saught all over the world, as he is able to look at a young puppy moving around in a crowded area with its owner, and see that the puppy had an abnormality !!! I need a vet like that, who needs Xray machines, scanners, second opinions, where do we find him.
Once again, the KC have gone off on one with their outlandish opinionated statements, be tthe Queen of Waffle wrote that one.
If it were my puppy? I would be off to the nearest expert vet. I would get and pay for an authoritative opinion, on this pupopy. I would then have a screening of the pups hips - and hind quarters, and would have a full opinion including Xray.... then I would challenge the nonsense that has been spewed forth again. Pam, if you read this, you have to come out of your shell and do it, for the sake of all others that will be treated like this if not. You have 100% support,. Mo.

I think it is fair to say that the KC have sunk to new depths with this. When I first read this story I couldn't help but think of my own grandmother who is of a similar age, and how she would have coped in a strange city alone and upset. I just keep coming back to how can any person justify doing that to her? It's disgusting. I am a pet owner with one GSD and until now have been happy to just read this forum but things like this make me sick.
As a member of the general public who until recently was unaware of the politics being played by the KC and really thought they were about the health and wellbeing of dogs I feel completely let down. I couldn't believe the way they treated the Best of Breed winner, who has all the health checks they should be insisting on but dont.
I can only say I really feel for the two women at the center of these stories, one who most likely went home feeling great that her dog did so well just to have it ruined in such a nasty way, and another who was made to feel awful about her young pup then left to find her own way home.

Well this is what i have put on the KC face book:-
Knowing this pup personally and only three days before having her at my house along with her half sister.
She being with me due to Pam being at Crufts SHOWING both the pups mother and grandmother BOTH 100% SOUND.
This lady/breeder of Gsds for some 50 years who not only shows each dog also works/does obediance and ALL aciheve their good citizen GOLD awards along with higher honors of more importance.
The Dam has a GRADE 1 BREED SURVEY her BH, a HIP SCORE of 4:2, JRD/DNA tested CLEAR
The Sire HIP SCORE:NORMAL, ELBOWS:NORMAL, HAEMOPHILIA CLEAR, ScH 1 ZW 82.
Without going on to much all her girls are all graded and have LOW hip scores and ALL the nessery health tests you can have and ALWAYS HAVE HAD and although a member of THE KC ACCREDITED BREEDERS SCHEME and the KC taking an annual subscription from her not once have they been near or had any contact (as with anyone else) or checked that any checks have been done.
The KC take her money to register the pups and even have sent puppy purchasers to buy her pups.........I will end here as I am again getting worked up.
This pup with an abnormality KISS MY ASS, a little puppy looseness perhaps due to not having any exersise
you do NOT exersise a GSD pup apart from gentle play and socialisation until 8/9 months in my oppinion.
I would say I bet this pup will have a low hip score when scored at 12/13 months and will be sound as an adult.
As a matter of intrest the puppy's litter sister was bought by a Vet who after checking Pam out
traveled over 200 miles for this puppy and says she is what he would
expect in a young puppy with a wonderful character and would not have
bought her had he thought her "unsound" at 16 weeks. He waited 6 weeks
as there was parvovirus where he lived and Pam kept her for him at no
extra cost.

Goods resume of the way Pam does everything Von. What other lady at 75 would get on a bike and do an AD - 12.5 mle bike ride with her dog as an endurance test. What other lady would go do the BH - and bearing in mind, that we are in our infancy in the show scene, working our dogs... we have not been inclined to do it so much until the last few years, and Pam has embraced these changes quicker than all of us, getting her girls qualified for no other reason than her joy and pleasure of achieving it for them.
Did the KC think they had come across some dotty little old biddy that knew nothing? Mr DFS-Vet felt all powerful making sure that he was at the helm of this atrocious act of sickening proportions I hope he dtill feels as confident when he is challenged by members of his own profession and scientific results...... Mo..

I spoke to Pam sunday evening and told her to speak to Nick Mayes of our dogs so I think it will be in the dog papers at least but on a calm scale.
We are all behind her on this one but it still wont undo the state she was in sunday evening, I felt so sick after i saw the photo of her and the pup in the desplay team Pam so proud beaming from ear to ear with pride one min then the KC to flatten her like that the next, You or no one saw her as I did Its heart breaking.
They are just heartless Bsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss there is no excuse for the way it was approached.

I spoke with Pam last night and am very happy to say that she is regaining her "Dunkirk" spirit which is how we all think of her.
She conducted an interview with Dog World yesterday.
She has also been made aware of another GSD exhibitor - a lady from the south of the country - who was also made to leave the show on Saturday. She does not know her name or the circumstances but it would be very interesting to know if anyone else has any details.
I hope that the committee from her training club who asked her to take part in their team will get over their anger at her publicly "outing" the KC - they do not understand the background to all of this and are more afraid of losing the KC's approval of their club than understanding of the way in which Pam and GSDs in general have been wronged.

all i can say Pam is GOOD FOR YER GIRL.we,re all behind you.will look forward to see the KC try to wriggle out of this.yu should phone Robert Killick up too.i know he aint enthusiastic about the international type of GSDS,but this isnt the main issue here.its about the kc attitude to people.keep ya chin up Pam and take care.Carole Spelman RHEINMEISTER GSDS.

I have put this on the KC board discussions on facebook please those who support Pam just at least endorse it with an agreement they will then feel they have to answere :-
I would like to ask the KC if due to an incident on sunday( and I believe similar also sat)with an elderly lady and her GSD puppy were they were asked after a demonstration to leave the CRUFTS building as the puppy was in the vets oppinion ABNORMAL.
I will not go into this further as it is already being well coverd but back to my question next year in 2011 will the KC have a SPECIALISTvet on stand by at each and every ring side BOTH IN BREED AND OTHER ACTIVITIES to be able to asses each and EVERY dog for soundness because this is the only way you can be sure you are not picking on the odd breed or odd dog.
Believe me there were some unsound dogs in the rings in many breed and only 1 vet or even a handful can not get round to watch EVERY CLASS in each breed which is what would be needed to comply with your regulations.
Remember again alot of these dog qualify as there are only ONE or TWO in there class.
I await your responce with intrest.

going a bit off subject.maybe the kc should change the qualification for entry into crufts back to the old days when only the 1st placed dog qualified.in these days of falling entries,there may only be 1-3 dogs in the class,which means all qualify.not many judges seem to withhold either these days.the quality of the exhibits at crufts would/should then be of better quality.OR WAS THIS MOVE BROUGHT IN TO BRING IN MORE MONEY????cAROLE s.
