Beetree I just saw that you lost your Mother. May I add my sympathy along with the others.
I know the feelings you are going through at this time and the ups and downs of the emotions.
When you see something that you know she would like and she will never see again hurts.
I took pictures and put them where I knew he enjoyed being. One of those was out in the barn to watch over his animals. I faced it out the door looking at the hill that he and his pack walked twice a day.
I can still see my father walking up the hill and down the other side with his pack following. 3 dogs then the 8 chickens 2 cats and 2 goats. All in the same order every time. When he stopped to look at something they all did too and gazed in the same direction.

Awwwe, Western Rider, that was wonderful to read! Thank you. I had to smile at this picture in my head of your father's devoted troupe. Beautiful, truly.

Well, my brother, sister and I just finished emptying, claiming, trashing, all that was hers, the final going through of mom's stuff. She was in an assisted living home. Found the journals...especially the "divorce" one, about my dad. My mom had a flair for writing, believe it or not! I gave them to my sister, said she could read them first I wasn't up to it. (I was sure there was going to be lots of "dad bashing" and I don't want to go there at the moment.) Mom made it easy for me to find them too, so I figure she wanted us to read it.... after she was gone. Some day I will. Maybe. Or never. But not now.
Looks like she was reading the Bible... at the end... found two of them. Who knew...guess my sister did, but then again, she does bible study. I try to avoid those conversations with my sister, actually, lol She can get dramatic, lol.
