When epilepsy was first found breeders took the view that it was case that it could not happen to me. The Kennel Club was not aware of the consequences that the disease would bring. Incest breeding and close inbreeding was permitted, more so in other breeds.

I am devastated and I will try to bring Epilepsy research and knowledge to the fore.

Maybe it's the wrong time to ask , but I too would like to see his pedigree. I see no point in discussing epilepsy or any other health condition, if we don't know which lines are affected. We're all aware of the 'old ' affected lines but I doubt many are aware of the lines that are still affected now ! They don't all go back to the 'old' lines .

(Many horse people learn how to give IV tranquilizers - it's not unusual. )

Brady Bee, wow! I couldn't find any lines that didn't go to German showlines!
Nice bit of detective work! And I know German show lines aren't all clear of the disease either, as Mackenzie pointed out.
Still, it's disheartening to show the disease still popping up with Avon Prince being so far back, and without the intensive line breeding on the Alsatian lines present in so many other fitters. :(
