xpyro, 2-2 was done in other breed, this female was top winning and top producing, I planned to breed same way in GSD but that is almost impossible, as dogs are sold in crazy tempo, so its almost impossible to make longer term planning, wanted to use the male Graucho, on the ofsspring of his sister Gila, but graucho was sold to USA way to soon
here is 2-2 i did

but the coat was a nightmare. my spouse at the time was a runner and when local dogs kept running out on her she started taking Boog with her. 5 miles a whack and he did it for several years and no other dogs would even look their way after the first day or two. if a car was coming, he would bump her till she either stopped or was completely off the road. really amazing.
sorry, back to Asko.

The line-breeding on some top-notch working Dobes in Germany would make most GSD breeders blush, lol.
I personally think, when done intelligently, that linebreeding is very effective. I wish that more breeders would be considering it in their programs instead of outcross after outcross. Now, I'm not experienced enough to say whether linebreeding on Asko is a good thing or not. ;)

I am not saying that everyone does it well but in Germany there is a lot of experience, as in the Czech Republic, they are references in German Shepherds all over the world ... so why do they import dogs to everyone?

Txar - I feel that some breeders (no matter where they are) do not truly understand how genetics work and their programs are not based on science but on $. To combine dogs successfully both genetically and with regard to the 'dog in front' is a rare ability. As a world-competitor was heard at a seminar recently (paraphrasing)..."I thought breeding good dogs was easy after my __-litter, but boy was I wrong".
To be truly skilled as a breeder takes intimate knowledge of individual dogs, lines, genetics and how to combine these things not just once, but repeatedly. Kennels that litter after litter are producing top dogs which are not good at just 1 thing but are versatile is rare. Look at Drago Eqidius and the kennel Eqidius.... many successful dogs in recent years have Drago in the pedigree. Look at how close Drago is linebred. That should tell you something.
