Titling dogs  shows that they are worthy of being bred.... it is 'proof' that the dogs have the temperment/abilities/structure that the breed was intended to have. That is why people look for pups with titled parents/grandparents/great grandparents... it shows that these dogs CAN do what they were bred to do (or should be able to anyway) because it runs in their genes. Just like getting their joints done - if the pups parents have HD, there is a greater chance that the pups will too.

And she is West German Showline

Nothing wrong with a showline - my dogs are showlines, too - but you don´t seem to be interested in showing...

Your puppy is out of pure west german showline dogs.

Ask the breeder to send the pedigrees to you, should arrive within two days, you don´t need to drive and pick them up by yourself.

The kennel name depends on the breeder, not on the dog.

Once in Germany you have the possibility to visit a club almost every day. And  - please - don´t tell them you are a TRAINER - a real trainer you may become after a couple of years in dogsport - right now you are a newcomer trying to learn.

Be polite, listen, and learn, and people will be willing to share their knowledge with you. Give them some time to know you, and to believe that you are really interested and willing to learn.

For dog obedience DVG might be the better place to go. Every SV club trains for Schutzhund, because it´s a breed requirement. For a German (including me) even the thought of breeding a dog without BH, SchH, breed survey, AD, show rating, HD and ED results, is a no go...

thx susie, very helpful as well, i dont tell ppl i meet that im a trainer, i fully understand im a NOVICE, its not that i dont want to show, just dont know, i think down the road i will enjoy schutzund more (though my wife has had GSD's her whole life) toska is my first, and based on my research i didnt think it was a smart move to (being new to the breed) go get 2 working line dogs for my learning. thats y i went with show (was that a smart assumption to make?). 2 my knowledge showlin gsd like to have a job ans complete it. Workinglines NEED to have a job and complete, or they can become bored, disruptive, and constantly challenge u (owner) for dominance.......I see GSD's becomeing a lifestyle for me and wanted to crawl b4 i ran.......if that makes any sense 2 u

dawulf, susie
i assume so but dont really know. Does it make sense to try to get a western, since thats what i already have, or does it not even matter, as long as its quality

also has anyone ever seen a standard(like showline brown/red, and black)gsd, bred with a sable (workingline), what does it look like, how was its tempermant, good ideal/bad ideal. NOT GONNA DO IT, was just wondering

I'm sure people here would like to help but I for one find your posts very difficult to read and follow.

If you want to crawl before you run then you need to own, train, exhibit, and title GSDs *before* you start planning to breed.

I think that it is good that you are willing to learn and as far as what lines to mix with your girl, that depends on what you want to breed for. If you find you like showing and conformation and whatnot, then sure, go for the West German Showlines. Thats what most people do who breed for Conformation. I have never been a huge fan of showlines (just my personal preferance, nothing against those who do like them) but there are a few I do like - like the Bullinger dogs. I like that Bullinger is so intent on keeping the workability in their dogs - but then again who is to say that they would be a good mix with your female? Really, I'd start now and e-mail/call different breeders, and the person who bred your dog about what their lines bring to the table, what lines would mix well, etc. etc. Homework, homework, homework, even if the possible breeding is a couple years down the road.

There are sable showlines, they just never seem to place as high in the ring as a traditional black/red. There are also people who try to get the conformation of the showlines and the workability of the workinglines, and try to create the best of both worlds by crossing the two... that will sometimes give you a sable/red dog. Trying to find pictures here for examples, but am having issues... Color should be the least of your worries, in my opinion... health and temperment should always be at the top.

here is a sable showline... http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/classifieds/151007.html
