Someone buying 2 littermates the same day better have a lot of experience. As a blanket rule, I will not sell 2 puppies together. Once, several months apart, I sold 2 to the same family, but this was an exception. Most people are not quite ready for one, let alone 2.

Theskridge,
"We were told by the Breeder that she does not give out papers on the dogs until they are Titled in at least SCH 1 or certified as a Police Dog, (which is what we plan on doing with ours) I don't know anyone who received papers with their pups before this time unless they are Spade and Neutered. The mother of our pup Quella von Hayden is Titled Sch3 and the Sire is Xpresso von Hayden he is not Titled but we're told is a Certified & Active Police K9."
You work at a Police Dept and were "told" the sire is a "certified and active Police K-9????" DO you know who handles this K-9 and what PD he actively works at? If you can't verify where this dog is actively working I would be very skeptical and worried. A "certified" Police K-9 really means nothing unless the dog is actually working the street and is proven. Just because a dog is an active Police K-9 does not make him bred worthy. I would really like to know where this dog works and in what capacity. Lots of red flags for me and I would need a whole lot more info before making any further assumptions.
I really have an issue with the current popularity of advertising dogs as "certified" Police K-9's.

Theskridge,
How are the hips and elbows on your dog? How are you going to "certify" your dog as a Police K-9? I am really fascinated and confused by this, perhaps you can explain this to me? Are you planning on doing PSA or SDA sport?

Well, this is certainly new spin on why the registration papers are taking so long to arrive in the hands of the puppy buyers...<sigh> And it IS a new spin, because the buyers who have previously come on this site and asked for help in getting their registration papers from this breeder most certainly were NOT given that information at the time they purchased their puppies, else they wouldn't have been awaiting the papers for them. BTW, while it's true that most pet owners never bother to register their puppies anyway, the fact remains that if the puppies are advertised as AKC puppies, then the papers MUST be released to the buyers, and not after the buyer has met some target or goal with said puppy, and not for an additional $XXXX either--as far as the AKC is concerned, the registration of the pup is akin to the title for an automobile: a document of identification, meant to accompany the animal when it changes hands to aid in maintaining that identification.

Ok gotcha I just thought I confuzzled you....I agree, in the future I would not purchase a dog unless I get the papers without stipulations We paid $1,600 for him the original price was $1,800. We received a $200.00 discount because my husband is in Law Enforcement. I've been a fan of the von Hayden dogs for a very long time and I finally own one :)
He's only 6 months old so some of your questions I can't answer as of yet. My husband is a Police Officer and we already have one Police K9 who is 12 and retired. My husband did certify him and is going to certify Atticus as well :) As in certify I mean he is the handler and goes to the training...gets the certification and works the dog.

Theskridge,
Thanks for the response. I am still a little confused, is your husband a K-9 handler for his PD? Or is he just going to train with the K-9 guys and work towards a "certification" title? After "certification" will your dog be working the street with your husband?
I think if he is just going to the training to 'certify" is awesome and probably a lot of fun for him and the dog.

He would not go through all that crap to look pretty...lol yes he's in to Drug Interdiction and the dog would be used at work..Narcotics, Track, Protection...I don't see the point getting a certification and not use it as I'm sure many do. Our 12yr old is named ICE Interdiction and Criminal Enforcement :)

So the dog will be used as a narcotics K-9, that is great.

When its completed I'll gladly scan in the certificate from the state of Ohio :) Like people say around here if something is true they have no problems showing the paperwork... Take a little pride and show off it off!
