Pasterns are scary, however, judges seem to like them like that it seems.

I liked the first pup, his structure looks better, he doesn't seem to have weak pasterns
like the second pup.
I think for some show lines the ears may take longer to go up compared to working line....

Darn it Red Sable, I just saw your other thread I stand corrected.

Judges really don't like pasterns like that, in the AKC show ring it could be because the judges do not know what a German Shepherd Dog is or because of the lack of competition, making that dog the best by default, or can be because of the handler and cheering section. I do not think,I hope, that you could get away with it in a SV show.

You are talking about pasterns and ears - this guy is going to buy a puppy because someone told him, this puppy will be at least SG30 on the Siegershow!!!
What about hips, elbows, teeth, temperament?
Don´t believe these people, these are PUPPIES worth 800 -1000 € right now, not less, not more.
If you want to buy "the best", buy an adult dog!
Just my thaughts,
Susie

From the photos it appears that the first pup is the better dog. That said the breeder SHOULD guarantee that those ears will come up if you are purchasing for a breeding/show pup. Pups are a crap shoot on a good day, anyone who says a dog will go top 30 in Germany is flat out BSing you. Run don't walk from that breeder. How would they know that the pup will title, how would they know if the hips will pass? WAY to many variables with a pup.

Second pup is of better type, but still the pasterns are too steep (weak), they might get better as he grows up but they will never be perfectly strong, anyway to be honest I personally prefer the second pup, only keep in mind what others commented on the pasterns.

I'm sorry,
I would not waste my time and money with either pup.
The first one has very bad pasterns,
The ears should be up by now,
Weak lower jaw,
and very deep hind angulations.
The second one is long in proportions,
has very weak pastions and
very deep hind angulations.

If you are REALLY wanting to show I would pass on both of these and keep looking. Nan Possibly look at the young male for sale thru Vom Swarzhagen (SP) not correct, I believe they are in Germany also, I believe he about 6 months old. Check him out. His conformation is beautiful, of course can't see his movement, but all is there. Yester is his name. Best of luck Nan
