Mallen looks exactly how a German Shepherd should look to us, were his parents similar colours ? Also, his eyes were quite dark in the pictures of him as a pup, have these changed at all as he gets older ?
You must be very proud of such a fine example.

Thanks Garry, we are very proud of him. He has retained a good dark eye which we feel enhances the expression. As you can see he is free from exaggeration and he is very sound coming and going he has a great temperament and loves to work at any task I give him. He is very quick to learn new tasks but like most GSD's with drive needs a purpose or becomes frustrated and bored. I look forward in the next few months to getting his health checks done and getting him out with the adults then we will see how he gets on.
John
PS You may like this concept of how the breed should be I think he's 5 months here.

That is a good picture John, my wife and I much prefer the straight back as opposed to the curved examples that a lot of breeders seem to promote. Not to say that there is anything wrong with these, it is just our personal opinion. We unfortunatey lost our young German Shepherd recently and are looking to find another one very soon, hopefully when we do, he will be as good as an example as Mallen.
We look forward to seeing more pictures of him as he grows.
All the best

Mallen (Strco Take That) has continued his winning ways. At just 1yr and 3 days old, at Tweedmouth CS Open (all breeds) Show, Berwick
he was awarded Best in Show by judge Mrs Jill Peak. Overwhelmed by the support.

Yes it has been photo-shopped I'm sure no one wants to look at the old coffin dodger that was standing with him.

Yes very very proud. But hey there are many nice dogs on PDB. Some of the working dogs are brilliant. If we ever overcome the extremes in exaggeration one day we may see some unity. Whatever the purpose these dogs have they are all German Shepherds and a great servant to man. But this breed needs a purpose to thrive whatever the task may be. John

John,
I agree! I really like your dog. He is very "classic" looking!!

It would be interesting to see if you could get a Breed Survey on him. That would be incredible!!! I bet some people on this forum might even help you do it for you ask as there are some really nice people on here!
I would definitely support you and wouldn't that be something if he could do it!! I wonder if he would be the first Champion dog in the UK in the last few decades to be able to do it!!
Just a thought for you.....it sure would be AMAZING!!!!!!
Good luck and please keep us posted regularly on him....like how his health results turn out; if you offer shipped semen; his performance accomplishments!
It has been fun to follow your posts from his a baby until now!!
I say...GO FOR IT!!!! We need more cross-over dogs that can put their feet in both worlds!!!!!!!
