I do not know if posting the kennel name is allowed, and I'm sure the breeder wouldn't want that anyway seeing as how he's a member here. I will pm you.

He doesn't want to put his dog down. That's why he is asking for another option. At least, he can try. The dog is too young for hip surgery, I think, because he is still growing. As I know this operation can be done at about 10 months or later?He can try to change the dogs life with no harmful stress on the joints. If the dog is no better or even worse, then he will have to choose.

Thank you marcus, it has been a tough day for me. At this point I do not know what to do anymore.

ETA:
He has a severe overbite which was resulting in his lower canines causing trauma to the roof of his mouth. I had to get his puppy LC's extracted and when his adult ones came in I opted to go with the pulpectomy for his lower canines and odontoplasy for his incisors because he is young and I'd rather he have some of his lower canines left.

I know how bad you wanted a pup from this particular litter and it has been a nightmare since the night you got him home from the airport and took him out of the crate. If I had a pup from that litter I would just give him to you.

What about a vet school? Can you ask if they'd be willing to do the surgery as a learning opportunity for the students at no charge or at a discounted rate?

I had fostered a pup with a serious heart defect that my vet fixed free of charge (and spayed at the same time) for the experience. The local specialty surgeon wanted $4500 for the surgery with the disclaimer that the pup would probably die on the table but the money would still be owed.

Puppy made it through the surgery just fine and has a good home, my vet got needed experience and everything worked out well.

Unfortunately there is no vet school in all of Arizona, but I will try contacting some vet schools in nearby states. Barbara, you can refer to me as "it" for all I care, it is the least of my concerns really and I'm not offended.
