MORE POLITICS !.   A clever ploy / sweetener by KC laying the carpet for the alsatian to go BIS Crufts 2012 or 2013 !.

by Doppelganger on 14 March 2011 - 12:03

So are the all rounders who have awarded Elmo Group placings, Group wins and Best In Shows included in that comment?

by Mackenzie on 14 March 2011 - 13:03

Judges who are termed “All Rounders” are not specialists in all the breeds that they judge. Also, unlike the SV Judges, they are not qualified by examination. In fact, their own breeds do not insist that they be qualified by examination. Their appointment is passed by the KC for reasons that will never be published. Many All Rounders follow the results pages and just see what is winning and, in mixed breed classes, as in the case of a Group, not many competitors will know what is happening in breeds other than their own. Who can argue?

Let me quote two personal experiences with All Rounders. The first happened at Southern Counties when I handled a female to BoB. As I was waiting to go into the Group ring I was speaking to a well known All Rounder who I knew quite well. As the dogs began to be introduced he said to me you will be third and he named the first two dogs in front of me in the right order. At the time I was amazed that he knew. Later he explained that the KC judge making the introductions used a code to tell the judge who should be placed and where.

The second occasion was at a All Breed Championship show when I was talking to another All Rounder that I knew quite well. He suddenly pulled out a book of breed standards and said to me that he had to look up the standard before judging because he had not judged Scottish Terriers before!! C.C.’s were on offer that day.

In my opinion “All Rounders” are not for our breed and, I think, that any CC won under an All Rounder is devalued even though it counts towards the title of Champion.

If i may be so bold and make a correction , 2012 Crufts judge is Mr Jim Parody and 2013 is Mr W Petrie.
As for Mr Brandon, I dont think this is the case as he has already judged at Crufts many years ago when he was alledgedly bitten by the bitch CC winner on the day. So i cant see the KC inviting judges who have already officiated there, BUT, I could well be wrong !!!!!

I had 'only heard' about the 2012 & 2013 Crufts GSD Judges, and was not really bothered,
thank you for 'correcting'.

Much of a muchness. Conformity confirmed!

Would not enter my dog under this judge, how GG can be portrayed as a Gsd specialist when he never enters any of his own Gsd's under Foreign SV judges is beyond my comprehension, why is that? Does he not consider foreign SV judges as good judges or is it just that he never has anything good enough to enter under SV judges considered worldwide as the Top Breed Specialists? As a matter of interest how many Gsd champions has GG actually bred, owned that qualified his appointment as a breed specialist judge at the KC's flagship Crufts? Or was his kc membership and supplier of a top dog food all that was needed?  As for awarding Elmo Best of Breed, no surprises there,  seen as the dog had group and best in show wins at General Champ shows last year  GG knew that by promoting Elmo he was in with a chance of delivering the probable Pastoral group winner into the main arena. An extra feather in GG's cap in his bid for becoming a KC All Rounder. In my opinion an all rounder is what GG already is, a Gsd specialist he certainly is not.
What can be said of Elmo is that he was most likely the best dog there, so the fact that his win was a foregone conclusion could be considered irrelevent, you got to be in it to win it someone said and I agree, though why anyone would want to cough up the cost of a Crufts appearence with their superior dog/s in the knowledge that the foregone conclusion was going to win no matter who else was there, is a bit too much to ask even the most ardent of show goers, not to mention honouring a judge with an entry he had neither the knowledge or intention to promote. Then as lovely as Elmo is and looked on the day, and he did put on a good show in the main ring, he is unable to win his class under SV judges at breed specialist show under the best we have here, let alone a CC.

The GSD judge for 2012 is actually Jim Parody (Parajoy).

As for Elmo, he looked amazing on the final night & did the breed proud.  He deserved to win BIS

I have heard some people find fault with him & it's embarrassing when they do as so many people say he is the best GSD they have seen in years.
