nip this right in the bud... all the commentaries are quite good here . BUT ... the big BUT is .. instead of thinking about the dog .. you have to learn THINK DOG ! they are not people .. like people but not people ! value your relationship with your dog ... i cannot give a whole seminar here .. but for example .. you do not want to redirect the dog biting you at 4 months ... you have the need to instill / communicate   any  dog to desire to not even  think about putting it's mouth on you let alone bite you !! . So .. you must re-ADJUST YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS DOG / RE ADJUST THIS ATTITUDE / OUTLOOK he has  . for  example . 1. don't even get into a situation where the dog can bite you .. collar and leash to inhibit the behavior   2. watch the dog if it even thinks about using his mouth [ dogs signal what they are about to do] - don't correct .. but DISCIPLINE this dog at the mere thought verbally /non-verbally. 3. you take complete control of this dog ...and i mean COMPLETE control -tell it where to sleep , when , where , what and how it eats   i.e- it will only eat if you have taught it so down t then make it down before that food bowl goes to the floor. ... where it can walk /or not walk . you tell this dog when and where it will pee/void. this dog stays on a leash and NO freedom , running in the yard unless earned or playing an innocent game like retrieving a ball ! and when you have taught sit/down come/  then do rapid sit /downs, sit /down /sit/down/sit/down exercises with this dog. and when you take a walk , out of the clear blue occasionally down this dog .. just because.----i don't care if you do SCH or not .. this dog needs manners and you have to teach this dog self-control and where it's place is ! IMO -- unless you are actively going to a SCH club and work with others  then with your lack of experience , don't worry about repressing the working traits in this dog. he better learn to repress that bite or you will have trouble.\ and mind his place.  Self control .. i teach this starting early .. about 10 weeks  dog fusses then it doesn't go through the door .. dog acts like an idiot then it doesn't come out of the crate .. I simply wait for calmness , eye contact and for the dog to control itself. no yelling , no reprimanding .. the dog figures things out fast .. believe me one , two or three times and they learn . BTW teaching manners ans self control DOES NOT inhibit the dog from working ... why ?? ... because it's how you teach  and comunicarte .. i most times never say a word but merely guide the dog to think and choose the correct behavior . eg. { dog if you want to play  ] then "come' . [dog if you want to eat then ]sit calmly in front. your relationship / your communication /teaching / re-adjusting the dog's outlook - that is how you will solve your problem- good luck
