Rookabadooka

My girl has had no formal training.  Her instinct is incredible though.  Any stranger comes to the door she barks and stays close while I answer.  She is an excellent judge of character and I can say a few people have come to the door and she would not "stand down" so to speak.  She wanted them no where near us.

She also will not tolerate heated arguements. When my hubby and I or my parents, when we lived with them, would argue she would stand between and bark at the one she saw as the aggressor.  Abbie also REALLY can not stand anyone who is drunk.  She has been to parties and if someone behaves "altered" she will stare at then and woof if they approach.

In her her old age (12 next month)  she has still not lost her protective instinct.  I think she would do herself in to protect us if the need arose.

My female is a civil bitch but she has been trained for sport and not much personal protection so I'd have to say I'm not sure what she'd do in a for real situation.  She fires up on a decoy that does not have equipment on and she will spit the sleeve and go right back on the man but we have not taken it much further.  We haven't done any excersises at home like I do with my other dogs.

I have to agree that it is harder to find a really tough bitch vs. finding a male.  I can find 10 good dynamite males vs. 1 good female.  My standards of a perfect bitch are pretty high.  She must be civil without equipment, have fight drive spewing through her veins but yet be stable enough to live in my house trusted with my kids.  Control and obedience are HUGE factors; doesn't have to be absolutely perfect as we're not scoring points at home BUT when I say down I mean down and I mean it now the 1st time.  No means No and it must be understood that I'm alpha around here.

If anyone has a bitch like that for sale under 4 yrs old PLEASE let me know....I have been looking for an eternity. :)

NO !!
MY DOG DOES AND WOULD WARN ME AS SOON  AS SOMEONE COMES ONTO MY PROPERTY.
BUT AS I HAVE NOT HAD ANYONE ATTACK ME IN MY HOME I DO NOT KNOW HOW SHE WOULD BEHAVE
AND AS SHE IS STILL A YOUNG GIRL SHE HAS YET TO START HER SCH TRAINING.

I ALSO THINK IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO BRAG ABOUT HOW GOOD A DOG IS IN ATTACKING SOMEONE

I don't train protection at all, but I can tell you the two times a stranger tried to walk into my house they didn't make it in the door.  My female knocked them back out of the doorway before they got the door open an inch. I have a hard time imagining the scenario of someone actually getting into the house that far.  She's done the same to people reaching into the yard; she snarls and throws her body against the fence to shove them backwards, without biting.  The first time she met my father she pinned him against the car because he walked up behind me when she was getting out of the car.  She's never put her teeth on anyone though, I can't begin to guess what she would do if someone fought back or actually managed to sneak up on us.  Maybe she'd back down, I really have no idea.  At this point the game has simply been alert and immobilize with her body;  act first, check id and assess threat after.

I have a dog that was raised with a neighbor, she was on diet pills in my home and my dog was signaling me, I stupidly ignored him because I knew, he knew and liked her along with the other friend that was there, I turned my back to anwser cell, she in animated talk raised her arm and he was in the air and took her arm down and let it go, he sat and looked at me, well do you want me to finish the job or what? I did not know about the pills at the time and it took me some time to put together what happened. It was very minor just enough pressure to control her arm.
I have a female at home that likes one of my plumbers, but she will not let him in the house if he has been drinking.
Also had a workman in my home, made friends with the dogs. He came while no one was at home, they showed him the door and off the property.
So I have learned, do not care if my dogs love and know you, if they signal me, I am taking control right now!

Not sure what my 2 yr old female would do with a real threat, I don't train for protection, she is not a big barker, but she does know exactly what's going on all the time:)  When strangers come to the door, she is definately checking them out, but tends to cue off me, if I let them in, she's fine with them stranger or not, if salesmen come to the door, I normally don't open the door but will talk thru the screen, she will sit right there on high alert, 'watching'.  She is not a tail waggy I wanna be your friend type.

In public, she is quite a 'watcher', once someone grabbed me fooling around, and she did a good bark / hold/body block move:))  She tends to be alot different in public, than home, always on high alert, rather suspicious, and very very stand offish with people she doesn't know, would rather be ignored.

I hope I never have to find out what she would do in a threatening situation,  now if it was my male aussie,,well he is the one who would act first and ask questions later:)

My 3 year old female GSD is naturally civil.  She is aloof with strangers and settles well with invited guests.  However she is reactive to tone of voice and any raised voice or aggression will turn her round quite immediately.  I am very aware of her behaviour whenever I'm engaged in conversation with strangers or if there is any commotion nearby, she already on the alert.  Will she bite, I don't doubt it.
