Nope, it's never easy. I told a friend I hoped Murphy woud stay home from our next trial (Murphy, as in Murphy's Law!)
Mirasmom, thanks for posting those x-rays! It's very educational to see them. What rating did they give your girl who didn't pass? The left hip looks just fine, but the right is obviously a bit out of the socket.
The more I look at these x-rays, the more I wonder if my resuce, Ranger would actually get a rating of 'excellent' for his hips! When I found it was only $35 U.S. to get them done, I idid consider sending his x-ray in, but the vet said they'd have to do it over, as it didn't have the right identifying info on it for OFA. (They do have to make sure no one switches x-rays around on them!)
Since he's a service dog, I asked them to x-ray him when he had to be anethetized for his neutering surgery. I wanted to make sure after all the training I did with him that he wasn't going to fall apart on me at an early age!

Had Beckett's OFAs done today, saw the X-rays, my heart sank.....one side is great, the other is very loose looking, the vet was not too hopeful, & the positioning was excellent. Wish I had thought to take a picture while she had them up on the board, but I was kind of stunned by what I was looking at. We might squeak through with a fair, but I'm not holding my breath. On the other hand, he didn't break his toe, which is what we had him sedated for, just figured if he needed to be sedated for 1 film, why not do 4? So now we wait. I wonder if he knows his testicles hang in the balance? I am so totally bummed. He's such a nice dog, this really sucks! Please, keep him in your thoughts, prayers, positive energy, it's gonna be a lo-o-o-ong 6-8 weeks! jackie harris
