BlackthornGSD, that's my dog's great-grand-dam,

I always wondered what kind of markings she has,
Her name is "
Sweet Caroline von Ryanhaus"

As you can see from my profile picture--my light colored female is maskless.  She is an AKC registered gsd.  People often ask me if she has coyote in her!

I been looking but can't find the standards I read about a week ago...it specifically stated that GSD must have predominately dark muzzle. I could be wrong...i will keep looking for the info...

The lack of a mask is considered a fault. From the SV breed standard:

Dogs with little or no masks, yellow or strikingly light eyes, light markings on the chest and insides of the legs, light/white nails and a red tip of the tail or washed out weak colours are considered lacking in pigment.

Fading pigment is listed as a 'serious fault'

They have a look of wolf hybrids. Apprently wolf hybrids develope white colouring around the mouth due to the mix  (not sure how much of that is true)

I like this look :)

A lot of the Rozavel dogs had the reversed mask, years back.I wish i could get it in my dogs .I loved the looks and brains of Chucks dogs ,and yes they where pure breds. You dont see many reversed mask dogs anymore.
Chuck was a great man .He is still alive today in a nursing home.
