This dog is what I would call a TRUE Bi color....

Here is a bi color female that is at the SchH club I go to...

I was told that a true bi-color, like Bella above, doesn't have any tan markings on its face. Bella was solid black until she was 4 weeks old. I have this dark b&t also, and you can see the difference below.

I agree with Ambi and Jyl on what a true bi-colour is. Absolutely gorgeous dogs BTW.  I love the Bi's

My first GSD, Prince, was registered AKC as a Black and tan, as there was no Bi-color entry.  Here is the only good pic I have of his body and coloring...

Bi-color, or dark B/T?  He had black hairs over his nails, black on the backs of both hocks, and as you can see, very little tan on his face or chest...

I'm still not sure what he would be called, I've always considered him Bi-color...

Crys...Bi-colour just not with as much expression of pigment.  The darker dogs like my boys are melanistic Bi-colours

The black on the forelegs must extend to the pastern, by the looks just about, toe stipling, check, mucky hocks, check.

I'd say bi-colour.

(I'd like to Thank the owners Freddie with 'Alfie' and Andrew with 'Kai' for the pictures of the lads)

Jyl, just love the dog in your top picture. Substantial, good bone, good expression, great conformation and that marvellous sense of strength & vitality about him.

I bet he's an absolute joy to own - do you have his pedigree?

VomRuiz, I don't think your puppy is a bi. I think it's a dark b&t. Looks more like my girl Ada above. Here's a baby picture:

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I do think VonRuiz pup is a bi-colour.

Bi-colours tend to get darker as they shed their puppy coats, and that tan under the chin and on the chest will get less and less as pup grows.  But the tan on the legs may increase making the stripe to the pastern thinner.

Well, if Bi is a recessive, and both parents are bi, then VR's puppy HAS to be bi. I just keep forgetting that they aren't all MELANISTIC bicolors.

I do not have his pedigree.....he was a male that I REALLY liked that was for sale at one point. He has been sold now.
