Yes I agree Blitzen, I too wonder about that sometimes. A breeder should know better.

And to tell the truth many GSDs nowadays have more rear angulation than front, sometimes that shows in gaiting, no balance, more thrust than fronts can handle, then dog looks like confused and trot breaks into semi run / semi trot and you see legs switching undecidedly, that looks bad. What worsens things also is when dog is straining agains the lead. That really feels bad.

Sorry, Ibrahim, I saw Ober only when he was young - after 2007 I haven´t been active any more in the "show circuit".

You talked about a "bad" movement clip of Ober you saw on Youtube - doesn´t seem to be him but Paer Hasenborn - the numbers are different ( Ober 1023, Paer 1007 ) someone srewed it up.

Ibrahim, if you don't mind my asking, what is your age?

I never get sick of listening to your explanations.  You are able to explain the techincal side of conformation.  That is my downfall.  I *understand* what I am looking at, but am unable to verbalize in a technical manner with your ability.  I can explain why somebody is seeing what they're seeing, but it won't come out with the clarity you provide.

I am happily married ;)  But I am not at all shy about giving praise where it is due, and admiration that has long since been earned.

Vk4gsd, you made me smile, I am also happily married, I like Xeph and I like her dogs, if things were different and I was near You people I would have many of you as friends in real life, would be fun to know you more, speak to you face to face, touch and play with your dogs, that would be a joy no doubt.

I would like to comment on a statement made earlier about dogs (I believe AmLines were mentioned specifically) having more rear than front.

It's true.  My bitch has more rear than front.  Overall I am seeking to balance that out (decrease the rear rather than increase the front...her front is nice).  That said, there is one stud dog I am breeding to that has the same issue.  More rear than front.  I'm going to get more of the same.  So why am I doing it?

Because I freakin' LOVE his temperament.  He is sound sound sound, super confident, wonderfully outgoing, willing to take on a challenge.  I am not shy about admitting how hard that is to find in the AmLines.  I want it, and the dogs in his pedigree are known to produce it.  His siblings are much the same.  The ones raised primarily as pets (versus kennel dogs) are more outgoing than the ones raised in a kennel environment, but the whole litter (I have met all but one) are sound.

Love it.
