You probably check online among all other avenues. But just thought I'd check if you went to petfinder.com adopt a pet
You can put in breed, location state, distance all which i believe is over 500 miles showing dogs and pictures that are at various shelters in multiple states that are up for adoption. Just a thought.

Update on the feral GSD female in Iowa--she's been caught and is presently in the hands of their local humane society.
