What a bunch of bull that is stated as reason to use a pager function. Lief, and you call yourself a trainer? Really good one you are.

What ever happened to just whipping a tennis ball between you legs?  So easy and rocket recalls! Uggggg

The point of the video was not to shock the pup but to introduce the collar. E stimulation is not a punishment nor is it harsh if used correctly. no difference in using a long collar and pulling the dog to you to teach a recal. it's all just pressure.  I've seen e stimulation introduced at an early age with very positive results. I know of many PPD trainers who refuse to use any food reward and very limited amount of toys. Even puppies are taught everything through pressure stimulation. Lifting the collar to out, lifting the collar to teach sit are all types of pressure training.

Personally I use food, pressure  positive and negative reinforcement. But the end result is what I care about. Stop being so closed minded. Pressure is not punishment

I didn't watch the video but my thoughts are why? My male was taught only by praise no food/treats. Yes, we can "to each their own", but at 11 weeks? Could the outcome or desired results not be accomplished just by voice? Even the simple "double pat" on the side of leg? Is this an experiement of sorts? A new technique/method? What I don't like at times is when an OP puts something out there, i.e.; video, statement, thoughts knowing that there will be responses or that it will be a "hot topic" but then doesn't comment, respond, interact, interject, defend, explain....................... Rhino skin!

I use pressure to in many forms (and find it very valuable) but at 11 weeks?  The puppy really won't come fast unless there is pressure either from a collar or long line?  Right now I am training a little puppy who doesn't even wear a leash during obedience training let alone needing to be "reeled" in on a long line or have a low level stim in order to do a recall.  The puppy should WANT to come back.  Right now to train a recall the dog must be restrained by someone else, or I throw food to get him to move AWAY from me so I can call him back.
