Do I need to change her name? If so what suggestions do you have to name her?
by hexe on 26 February 2015 - 22:02
If you have no plans to breed Zoie, then there's no reason to change her name; if, however, you ARE intending to use her for breeding, I'd suggest getting in touch with Fleischerheim, explain what happened and that you do have plans to breed her when she's older, and ask them if they would prefer you change her registered name and remove their kennel sufficx from it. If they're OK with leaving things as they stand, then no one else should have an issue with it.

Will do thanks! By chance hexe do you know what Dog1 meant by the father being a weak link?

by Markobytes on 26 February 2015 - 22:02
The questions you should ask regarding the sire should be does he have show titles? Working titles? Hip and elbow certification? Breed survey? What makes him worthy enough to pass along his genes?
The name you chose is too close to Fleischerheim's kennel name, Rock Bottom Ranch seems to.be the name you chose for your kennel.

He does not have any working/show titles. Normal hips and elbows. Not sure what a breed survey is and Rock Bottom Ranch is the ranch name. Horses cattle and shepherds is under that group. I don't want a specific name for each animal. That's pointless to me? I'm not getting info I am asking for but I am random info so I guess this forum is pointless. But thanks everyone for the input.

Things about your female's pedigree don't add up.
According to the what you've entered, your bitch was born January 1, 2014. The bitch represented as being her mother, Victoria, is shown as being born June 14, 2013; that means she would have come into season at the age of 4 months of age, and had Zoie at the grand age of 6 months and 18 days. Highly unlikely. Your bitch's father, Shadow, is shown as being born January 1, 2013; that would have made him all of 10 months old or so when he is supposed to have bred 4 month old Victoria.
Where are you getting the birth dates from for the sire and dam? The AKC will not register a litter from a bitch that was bred at less than 8 months of age.
No information regarding hip evaluations can be found in the OFA database, which does the majority of certifications for dogs in the US, and since neither parent would have been old enough to have their hips certified by the SV at the time of the alleged breeding, what proof were you given that the sire's hips were normal? What about the mother's hip status?
So I logged in on the AKC website to see if I could find anything there.
In truth, Victoria Vom Fleischerheim III was born December 25, 2009. Her AKC registration number is DN27816403. I suspect that the June 1, 2013 date is the date she first appears in the AKC's Studbook, which is where the registry records litter registrations. The same goes for the January 1, 2013 date for the dog Shadow--probably the first litter sired by him appears in the Studbook that was issued on that date.
However, the AKC database has no record of any German Shepherd Dog bearing the name Vac Vagvolgyi Shadow; the only German Shepherd Dog that comes up in the AKC's on-line database with that prefix is a bitch by the name of Vac Vagvolgyi Lina, also born in 2009. So I don't know what to make of that. Maybe there was some problem with foreign-registration paperwork and it's still being processed--that happens on occasion.
Perhaps that is what Dog1 was referring to when he said the mother was not the weak link--there have been some very questionable dealings involving dogs being traded out of Serbia, Croatia and other Eastern European countries, things like money being sent over there in response to advertisements of dogs for sale, and once the seller receives the money, no dog is ever shipped and the buyer can't make any contact with the seller ever again, or if a dog is sent, what arrives here is clearly not the same dog that was advertised and agreed upon. That is what came to my mind when I saw his remark, at least.
There's a reason why you're getting what you consider to be 'random' responses--it's because those of us who have responded wouldn't consider your female to be a breeding prospect, at least not at the moment, since she's too young, she has no titled and breed surveyed dogs on either side of the pedigree until you get to the grandsire on each side, and there's no health clearance info on record for either parent. If you were to undertake showing her so she got a conformation rating, getting some working credentials on her by either titling her or something to establish how well she meets the breed standard, she might be considered a reasonable foundation female, but frankly it will be an uphill battle to build a kennel on what looks to be a somewhat shaky foundation.
And for the record, even though my current female has hips and elbows that are certified clear by OFA, and all of the bells and whistles behind her from her parents all the way back through 7 generations, I didn't consider her to be suitable for breeding, because she has some traits that should NOT be passed on to another generation...even if I had shown and titled her, it wouldn't have mattered. I spayed her when she was 3 1/2 years old, after she was fully mature both physically and mentally--so I'm not saying any of this to try and deter 'competition', because I don't breed dogs. I stick with beef cows: even the worst specimens born still taste good.

Hexe's post goes equally for many of us who have not responded to your OP
too, RBR.
Nothing 'pointless' about this forum; I guess concern about breeding, origins,
health tests, working titles, seem of little interest to you, if it is all random info.
once you already bought your dog.

RBR,
An appropriate name would be Rock Bottom Ranch's Zoie. You can carry the name going forward.
Every breeder breeds their vision of what the breed should be. Some are better at it than others. Bill does it, I do it, everyone on here that breeds does it, your breeder did it also. What each breeding becomes is something the breeder hopes is what they planned from the beginning. If Zoie meets your expectations, the breeder succeded. You should be happy and enjoy her.
Bill brings over German stock. Zoie's mother is from dogs that were brought up through the German system for the most part. The father is from Hungary. Lots of questions arise with these dogs as mentioned previously. Normally they are sold as cheap imports, some importers re-register and advertise German Pink Papered.
The perception when you see this type of breeding is another *&^% American bought what they thought was a German Import and is making puppies to sell. You or anyone can test the theory by searching a breeders name and seeing if anything pops up other than lists of puppies for sale. No show results from what they bred, basically no involvement in the breed. Just making puppies to sell.
In the end she is what she is and if you like her, that's all that matters.

Dog1: Thank you! This is more along the lines of what I was looking for.
Hexe: I own Zoie so I am aware of her age so I do know she is not old enough to breed. I am also aware of the dob mistakes on her parents.
My question was not asking about the parents, again. I was inquiring about lineage past them. But for everyone has input on this thread thank you and have a great weekend! I did learn info I did not know about registrations. I bought this dog to enjoy as part of my family. She meet my expectations when I picked her out. I am only inquiring now just out of curiosity and if my late inquiry bothers some of you then please move on.
