CLC, you bought that one AND the big memory foam one, right? Just want to clarify that the one I'm talking about is not the one in your pics.

Hexe, we just need to get you one and wait for someone going on a road trip;-)

Jenni.....Yes....The bed in the picture is different. The new one (bought it just after Christmas) does not have the side bolsters, but is about the same thickness. It looks kind of like it has a pillow topper on top with the solid thick foam below. All of the dogs love it :)

Blame away Hexe! Teeth Smile They do have some nice stuff on there! Wow!

I like that bed with the removable bolsters, although the bolsters might be helpful for sudden stops and such, if I face them towards the front of the vehicle. Hmm…

Jen, that is pretty much how Qira’s bed is now - super thick, heavy memory foam. It has thinned out some (about a year old now) but she still loves it. A bed fit for a queen! I am not embarrassed to admit that I laid on it with her a couple of times when it was new, and I can attest to the fact that it is niiiiice.

Last time I was at Sams Club, I saw that they also had some very nice beds there. I tag along with a friend to Costco for our dog food runs, so I don’t tend to browse around much there. If I think about it, I will have to check them out the next time we go. That would be good to replace her current bed when the time comes, but I don’t think we need something quite as thick/extravagant for the car. The back of my poor car through a lot… mud, lake water, sand, hair, heat cycles, slobber… and that’s not even counting the mess that the papers make! Or my 8 y/o half sister and her annoying friends (but they are in the seats not the cargo area… seats stay laid down 99% of the time)… or whatever I happen to be transporting for myself or someone, since I’m that person with the SUV. Something easy to wash/keep clean, and that can add some cushion and traction to her ride without being abrasive on her elbows like the current fuzzy carpet stuff is, is all that I really need. Preferably something that will last, too. J

CLC, I love your new kennel set-up! And the carpeting is a good idea… does it stay put well when you have to brake harder than normal? Working in the middle of the night, in the city, you have all kinds of random animals and people jumping out in front of you, not to mention the drunken idiots that come flying out of nowhere/running red lights/pulling out in front of you and cutting you off. Sudden stops/swerves are inevitable, and I would be afraid something super thick would come sliding forward moreso than something thin would.

Dawulf...Thanks!!! Yes it stays put very well....better than the several beds I've had in there. House carpeting has a rigid backing on it, which prevent's it from buckling like a blanket or thin dog bed and makes it a bear to cut. You have to cut it to fit with a box cutter/utility knife. Another plus, when I take my car to get it washed, the cleaners vacuum that carpet right along with the rest of the vehicle :)
