All dogs have drive to some extent, It,s whether it can be focused or not, to be useful. If I were looking for a bitch to possibly start breeding with she would have to naturally show strong drives.

Buy here a BMW or extended cab SUV.  $4 to $5K spending cash, vacations, and anything she wants.  They will put here into prey drive, defensive drive, and you can keep her focused.

Xeph, just start working with her on a daily basis. Tie her to a post and use the flirt pole. Play keep away with a ball on a string. While I do believe dogs are born with drive, they are not born with the automatic ability to focus that drive. You need to bring it out in them.

I applaud your efforts. Don't give up and focus your efforts on improving the breed.

I have an 8 mo. pup who is a ball nut. He will go after it on land or water. But, regardless of what anyone says, he wasn't willing to go 30 yards into the Tennessee River the first time I tossed it out. You need to build them up.

Just start doing it and see where it leads. And 2 weeks is a little early to expect a dog to be fully bonded and willing to please you.

DNA period.  I have a bitch dog that will run through glass.  Why?  She is a daughter or Hutch.  Period.  I can train her to max the drive but it is in the genes.

Thank you :)

I admit part of my frustration is that nobody even bothered to teach this bitch any freaking house manners to begin with.  She jumps in your face, she STILL mouths at 2 years old (on people, not appropriate things), and she marks inside.

I don't mind puppies that act like puppies...I DO mind 2 year olds that were never taught anything, which is why I wish I hadn't listened to people and gone with the gamble of a puppy instead.  At least then I could have raised the dog my way >.<
