I no longer get bites after petting my dogs, so whatever it is, what I am doing works, guess that's my main concern :-)

I am glad you have found something that works :)
You mentioned having had this before, you might need to examine what is exposing your pets to sarcoptic mites.
Dont know what you are using for flea/heartworm protection but just a FYI, Advantage Multi, Trifexis and Revolution will help get the sarcoptic under control and prevent future outbreaks, also killing ear mites. It will also help prevent the damage to the epidermas caused by the mites, and the backbreak frequent bathing, especially aggravating in the winter lol

Judy, I am with you on this " Revolution "  is the best way of treating Mange. 3 treatments use 2 weeks apart. Absolutely no messing around.

My dogs run around wooded areas near my home that are frequented by foxes and racoons.
I think a bomb would be a bit drastic.
I will definitely look into revolution for future prevention.

Revolution is awesome. I normally pay 199.99 <large dog 12 pippett package> a year per dog to keep mine on it. This year they did have a shortage period where it was not easy to obtain though. I am glad none of the woods or foliage my dogs have been through even when I did wilderness SAR before revolution was used gave my dogs these problems.
