Good Morning Hundmutter. Hope you are having a good day.

Thanks for the compliments--yep they're not bad for mutts!!!!!!

You know I have these 2 bitches that mixed it up pretty good--this is about the 5th time but the others have just been little tiffs--this was a serious deal. Anyway I got her all well and on her feet and I am taking her to Bec in the morning and she will stay there until we can find her a home. OMG Hundmutter my heart is just breaking--everytime I look over at the crate I just want to bawl. She's used to having her freedom, and she looks so sad in her crate. Cry Smile Thanks for listening.

Both very nice. The sable has really good pigment and nice bone, too. Would like to see a head shot. The black has nice, "dry" conformation from what I can see.

There you go Jen doesn't he have a beautiful face and head? A little more refined then the all german dogs, that comes from the Am sl but I like it. And he is solid as a rock. If you'd like to check out his pedigree:UKC CH Marybecks Supersonic.

Oh, Vonissk, when you get two bitches who decide they don't like each other ...

My mentor used to have a bitch who 'got on' with her other bitch, the one that was
eventually retired to me;  so I used to exercise them together.  Then one day they
just fell out and blew up in a full scale fight out of the blue.  Well I got hold of em
both and got their leads on and walked them home,  but  the relationship was never
the same again, and Ronnie had to make sure they were always seperate.

Before she came to me, my Vida then shared a kennel peacefully with her younger
half-sister, they were always fine together until the sibling was sold at nearly two.
Vee was always better with bitches than she was with dogs, actually.  Not sure why
it didn't work out with the first one,  except they were really close in age.

So sad for you;  hope the new arrangement suits them.

Good Morning Hundmutter, Hope you are having a good day. We had frost this morning and I didn't even know it------so I am out in the dark and cold scraping ice off the windshield. Grrrr............

Thank you for your kind words--this was the same kind of deal. Voo came here for me to socialize and raise until she could find a home. (someway sold sounds so cold--notice my poetry? LOL) Anyway she came here as a 9 wk old pup and Sister and her were best buddies-laid together, played together and on and on. OK things were fine. So Voo went supposedly to be a service dog--that lasted a week--he had a laundry list of excuses and when we took her back his last thing was she was in heat--no more than I was or am now. So then she went on the co own deal, when they picked her up Bec took her to his brother cause his daughter wanted to be a Jr Handler--she had already shown Voo in UKC puppy classes and did real well. Well she counter surfed and his wife didn't like it. I guess the straw that broke the camel's back was when she was caught ON the dining room table. Sp they met her brother at the casino--I had asked her mother where was she going now and she said I guess back to you. I said well we will have to have a talk. So when she got here I tol;d them this is it--it is hard on the dog and hard on me every time she leaves--I will buy her make me a payment plan. But if she can't stay here permanently, she can't stay here at all. So we co own her. Back to Sister after she came home the last time then she would threaten Sister now and again and Sister is avery soft dog so she would get away from her and come get in her crate. Then all of a sudden she jumped on her--out of the blue and the day before they had played together--after that shewould be OK and then jump on her and the fights got progressively worse and when she got pregnant she jumped on her and ripped her shoulder open about 8-10 inches. Well I managed that by myself--I have teched and worked around a lot of vets and breeders so I can do some things, Got that well. When she had her pups she would let Sister go in and see her pups but I was always in there. As I said I was out mowing by the back fence and I am always making sure where the dogs are. Sister usually stands in the garage and looks out--she doesn't like when you put the blade down-looked up and saw her against the wall and I could see Voo's head-so I got the blade up kicked the mower into high gear, jumped up and was beating Voo in the head with a pillow I sit on on the mower. It made herlet go of where she had her and when she went back down to grab her again, I grabbed her collar and got her off her. Sister ran in and got in her crate and I dragged Voo in here and put her in her crate. I had left the mower running, I didn't see any blood running so I went out and finished mowing cause I only lacked about 10 minutes. Came in got Sister out, started finding the places on her--got out my clippers and started clipping hair--all the time I am cussing myself for not seeing immediately and basically for leaving them together. By the time I did all this and washed and disenfected the places it's 5 pm--vet is closed and then I find where she ripped a place open in her stomach--I put my hand down there pulled it away and it was covered with blood. So I ripped up a t shirt and tied it around her. I already decided to call the vet first thing in the morning. Next morning the big place on her stomach was closed up and one of the puncture wounds on her back was so deep you could stick the tip of your finger in it. Dr Collins told me how much dog hair and bacteria was in the big place in her stomach and he felt had I not brought her in she probably would have died from infection.  Anyway everyday I had to flush drains, washed her with antibiotic soap, keep her sheets clean in the crate and on and on. About the last 5 days has been hell. Voo didn't want to be crated so I could let Sister out and you don't know what all I had to do to fool her and catch her. Every time I had to think of something new. When one was crated and the other was out the one crated would throw a fit. Everytime Voo walked by Sister's crate Sister growled at her so it never never would have worked for sure then. And Voo sort of did it on purpose--teasing her-I'd get on to her but I couldn't police the situation 24/7. My goal was to keep them seperated and keep them safe. So we made this time to do it. Yes I cried yesterday and I felt sad and I felt guilty. BUT after I took her and then came home I feel a sense of relief. It was nice to come home to no dogs in crates howling and all that. Yes she willbe in a kennel over there, but she likes it outside, she likes to see what's going on and plenty of action--horses and dogs over there. But she will get out to run every day, if they can talk her into it maybe go to the lake and she won't be jumped on all the time. Sometimes Grandpa goes over there for one reason or other and her boyfriend takes him to the bar and people feed him junk--not lots just a bite here and there. So she'll do fine. And I already was going to but now I know I have to get another place fixed in the yard and the garage so I can seperate dogs and prevent this from happening again.  Thank you very much for your sympathy and your concern and sharing that story with me. I really appreciate it cause the whole deal has taken a lot out of me...............And I liked what you said--they're total GSDs regardless of their pedigree!!!!!!Broken HeartStill broken hearted but it's for the best............all the way around.............

Well we didn't have all that to and fro;  that won't have helped !   Vida and BB had been constantly part of the
same household - Vee was home-bred, and Bee had been brought in fairly young and then no interuptions.
They were kennel dogs so they hadn't been together 24 hrs at a time, but they were fine in the yard together
which is why I started taking them out for walks together.

Ron only put Petra in with Vee later 'cos she was a bit short on kennel space at that time, which is why they
shared a kennel;  she normally would not house two bitches together outside, where they were not obviously
under her eye.  She boarded Petra back for a short while at a later date, and did not let them meet at that
time 'just in case' their having been separated made a difference.  I was willing to risk it; but they were her
dogs !

Oh the joys of pulling the buggers apart and patching them up when you do get a squabble !!!  Sweet memories,
thanks very much for raking those up  Sick.

I am so sorry.  Right now mom and daughter get along at my house, but I have already separated them based on all the warnings I have been given about having 2 GSD bitches.

Question:  Do you think having both bitches fixed will help the harmony or do you think it will not make much difference?

Hundmutter

by Hundmutter on 08 October 2012 - 21:10

Fawn - I would not want to generalise;  I think its one of those things that can go either way.
Vida and BeBe were both entire at that time;  Vida and Petra were entire, also.
But where I was working for the last 12 years, we had neutered bitches who got on okay;  AND
neutered bitches who did not.  Plus a mother and daughter - both entire - who HATED each
other.  Plus two litter sisters who were one entire, one spayed - and they hated each other
even more (but fortunately lived in different places on the estate and rarely had to even see
each other).

Hundmutter thank you for sharing all that with me. Sorry to bring up bittersweet memories for you. But you ended up with a smile on your face. So that's good.
Fawn, in this situation, I told you Sister was spayed and she had been since she was agbout a year old. She had one season and I had her spayed because I didn't want her and Grandpa breeding--her dad--and the other reason I told you already she has 4 missing teeth. And I never c ould figure it out either from that aspect because I know 2 intact bitches will really mix it up but since Sister was spayed and no threat in any way to Voo.....................oh well we will never really know and I miss her already.........She will be 5 in Feb and Voo will only be 2 in Jan..
Broken Heart
Hundmutter, I 'm not going to get into a big deal, but I do want to make a comment about Voo coming and going. When she went with the co owner, as I said she was going to do this and that regarding AKC titles. She had also made the comment she was going to train her for PP which was fine. When I finally got her back, she was different and I am thinking she might have tried to do some of that and didn't know what she was doing. Now nothing was said about the short time she was with the brother but I am sure they just played with her and she slept with the daughter and was not MADE to do anything. When she got back here after a couple of days to settle in, I went to do something and nogrowl, no warning, but she showed all her teeth at me and I said oh hell no we're not having this. She did it a few more times and then stopped just as quick as she started. Everytime she did it, I got on to her and corrected her and then one day as I said she never did it again. So I'll just never know what was done to her there.
