So I am not certain A3 is what in OFA translation? Thx Nan

by Bhall on 07 October 2012 - 01:10
I guess fair.
by Nans gsd on 07 October 2012 - 01:10
Well that is good it is fair as the left hip does not have too much coverage in the socket. Thx for the info, I will keep that in my mental computer. Great days Bhall, know that has not been a great week for you. Nan

I was told A1 is normal, A2 is equivalent to OFA Fair, and A3 is considered mild HD. But of course I could be wrong.

I know, but I always say "everything happens for a reason". I love my dogs and I love training my K-9's and get excited when they work the streets after I train them, I love my family and miss my mom but God is good all the time :)

According to the ISSR, A3 is mild HD. Couldn't find a comparison on the OFA or PennHip sites.

I would consider him fair not mild HD. Just my opinion

A3 is a passing hip rating, meaning normal, no signs of dysplasia. If someone just MUST compare it to OFA (which really isn't fair, since OFA uses absolutely no standard of grading) then it's like a "fair" rating- passing is passing. Hips are fine..thanks for posting. I agree; it's good to see the hips and what they rated.

I've had better looking hips go mild HD with OFA more than once. So I guess it's just a matter of opinion. We all know that OFA doesn't use any measurements for grading like PennHip does. The left hip is about 1/2 out of socket, it looks to me.

I respect the SV more than I do OFA. That said, I'd consider these Fair according to OFA "standards." If the dog were to be bred, though, I'd only cross with a1 hips. For the record, I would have rated them a2. JMHO
