What about females that have one c-section then go on to deliver multiple litters naturally? Would you wash an otherwise quality bitch over an extenuating circumstance? Seems hasty to me.

In my opinion it depends on why you need a c-section.  I had a female with a pup laying crosswise across the birth canal which has nothing to do with birthing naturally.  She whelped six and the seventh was sitting sideways so she had a section to get the others out.  That to me is not reason to take a female out of a breeding program.

Id say one c section is excusable but not three.  I would not want a puppy from that female or that breeder either

In other others, do you guys say a bitch that needs to have csection would produce puppies that need c section too. Would it have to do something with genetic make up.

You asked "can" not "should" -- which question do you want answered?

If a bitch has one c-section due to an extra large or malpositioned puppy blocking the birth canal, I wouldn't hesitate to breed her again. That's certainly NOT her fault. Three c-sections in a row, however, point to something wrong with the dog that could possibly be inherited. I'd have to know the reason for the c-section being done. If it is due to the structure of the pelvis, that can definitely be inherited. However, it's also possible that the pelvis could be injured/broken in an accident. In a case like that, of course, the problem would not be inheritable. There are many other reasons: malformation of the vagina and cervix, hormonal imbalance, too large a litter, etc.

Well, I wonder if they can? but I feel that they shouldnt for so many many moral reasons. Must get to the real reason why csections were done before.

Yes, you can. You may have trouble getting her pregnant if there are adhesions/scar tissue in the uterus.

Good point. I guess the scar tissues would be an issue.

No plans on breeding, thanks for the info.
