IWell you do know that some peoples time is waaaaaay far more valuable then anyone else's on the planet dont you? (totally joke there)
think in any type of inquire one is making a response of some type in a reasonable amount of time is just good sense. Even if its to say blow it out your ear.. (sarcasim intended) On the other hand I personally end *emails* after a certain amount of info is provided and prefer to speak and get to know people. Its not difficult to pick up a phone and CALL.
On the flip side the qty of text phone messages from mock interested parties I get is enough to make me wonder if people have no life (G)..Myresponse is please call I cant do much text.. and then my phone number.. amazing concept isnt it? Funny they just fell of the face of the earth..Thank goodness.
Its a great big world and we are free to patronize those we feel good about and wish to associate ourselves with. Keep on keeping on its not that hard to find people who care to communicate..especially when dealing with living creatures for heaven sake.

Honestly my biggest issue with flying to meet the dog (and this has happened) the person sells the dog and Im left with a ticket to tim buck to that I have to throw away. At least if I drive, I'm only out the gas and a day of driving.
Maybe it's just me....I'm extremely anal about responding to people. Even when I ran my rescue and I knew by the response that the person was not a good fit, I responded. That way they could move on to another dog.
