qsdtwo, Thanks but I am looking to import. I have seen quite a few GSD's in Lahore, Faisalabad and Pindi. But there is a lack of awareness as to the health issues in the GSD breed. Papers and pedigree details are more or less non existant.  Also, people here ( pakistan) are more interested in the show aspect and have negligible thoughts as regards to other functions such as temperament/ protection etc... And before you say that I Haven;t seen the right dogs, let me tell you that I am talking about show winners and breeders who own these and other dogs. Thanks again though. Regards.

Shaz,  I'm intrigued - if the breeders' dogs you've looked at locally are mainly Show Dogs, does that mean anyone
can show anything in Pakistan without proof of the dog's breeding ?  No 'papers', no Kennel Club, no RULES ?  Many dogs  - or their parents - will have been imported;  I know some definitely go from the UK from time to time, and assume
also from Germany & the rest of Europe.  Curious - thank you if you can tell me anything about the situation...

First of all I am no expert. I am a dog enthusiast. I have been searching for the right balanced GSD for a while. I started off locally. Some friends and myself visited numerous owners/ breeders and I spoke and took advise from guite a few people in the dog show business. During this search I have come across dogs advertised as v1's ( there is currently one advertised on the net and I have personally been to see this gsd 400 km away in Islamabad). And of course they are not. I have come across chipped and tattoos dogs and their Papers did not stack up. Some had certificates of non existant dog shows. I could go on but I will move on. My search then led me to Europe. I'm am originally from the uk so I naturally started there. The quality was not as it should be. Now Please keep in mind that my contacts in this field in Europe are limited. So I moved to GSD home germany. Here the breeders either didn't want to sell to me or their prices were way too high. I therefore moved on to Hungary, Serbia and Poland. Here dogs much cheaper but very little verification. And the breeders are all too eager to sell, not many asked much about the buyer. By some prices were agreed, show winners were promised but when it came to verified information people just became silent. No more mails. Yet, some of these breeders had supplied to Pakistan!! I knew some people who had purchased from these people and even won titles here of these dogs. I asked questions from these buyers/ importers and realized that they hadn't asked many questions or the right ones anyway when they made their purchase. I would like to point out that I myself was in this category, unti very recently, before I came Across this little gem of a site. Please keep in mind that the dog owning community here is very very small and the knowledge very limited. But we are trying and learning. Keeping dogs here is not a cheap sport and many owners are well connected people and they prize the titles more then the dog itself. I could go on but I think you get my drift! But many Of us are just in it for the hobby or love of the animal. I myself don't have the knowledge or the time to show. Tittles don't interest me just knowing that 'My Dog' is the way a GSD should be is more then enough. The search is still on and I thank the people who have helped and guided me. Thanks and regards
