He's not a contender. Not even on the "LIST". I'm such a list maker these days! LOL
I'm surprised Flipper isn't making a better showing. I loved watching FLipper. I can talk "dolphin" fairly fluently, too.

Well he SHOULD be on the list. I loved ol' Bullet.

How come the Littlest Hobo isn't there? I think he was the best TV dog EVER! The series was rather amateurish, but the dog was really really good!

Yeah, Sunsilver, London was a big favourite of mine too (but lets face it, not a 'perfect' GSD to look at !) Apparently you could get on to put other animals on this list, but I could not get the site to work for me. Maybe we should start our
own "Favourite TV Dog voting list" ?

True, but he was a lot better than current American showlines! And I personally think he had better structure than the Rinty from the 50's TV series.
The main fault I could see was his front feet turned in too much when he gaited, and his ears were a bit large and soft. If you watch the opening credits, you'll see how they bounce when he's carrying the hunting rifle in his mouth.
The ep. I saw today showed him removing an airplane tire innner tube from underneath a shelf. It stuck a bit, but he problem-solved his way through it!

Clever beggars, though.

YAY Rinty! He's ahead of Lassie by 20%. Felt a little guilty about not voting for Lassie...Loved Terhune and the series and had several collies of my own...until I discovered the GSD. Go Rinty!!

by DebiSue on 17 July 2012 - 21:07
59.22% over Lassie's 35.09% Someone out there is voting!

Terhune was "Lad a Dog"... not Lassie, but I also had a love affair with the collie til I realized NO WAY was I going to spend all that time combing all that hair... LOL.
Animal actors.... Jerry Lee should be a real contender. Real time show dog/ Movie dog/ Police K9 who was killed in the line of duty. Also loved Hooch, Pettycoat Junction dog (later Benji), Wishbone (Eddie on Fraisier). Frances the talking Mule. Like Lassie, there were quite a few dogs who played Rin Tin Tin.

Rin Tin Tin's lineage is being kept alive by Daphne Hereford and her team. Here is his webpage...and guess what's on the front of the webpage??

I'm sure Daphne and her team are very pleased to know how well Rinty is doing in the poll!
