When I refer to prepotent, I mean of a homogenous genotype, and ideally of a dominant allelic type. A black dog is prepotent for producing black, but because of the less dominant nature of the gene, might not produce any black puppies at all, depending on who bred to. A producer with only one copy of a dominant gene is not prepotent, IMO. Whatever most consistently produces a given phenotype as the end result, is prepotent. But as we seldom deal with absolutes, it's a fuzzy term for me, meaning relatively more or less, rather than all or none.
