the left hip is better then the right. im guessing either fair or borderline.
if borderline, you can resubmit at least 6 months later and if no changes, they could regrade as fair.
pelvis is tilted every so slightly to the left which may make the right hip look less deep.
much better positioning the most and the exposure is excellent.

which vet did this - as they deserve the recognition.

Hopefully the OP will let us know what OFA says.

For your comparison, I added a radiograph of a dog recently rated "a-stamp" normal (photo on the right) next to yours. This may help make the difference in coverage of the left hip [on the right side of your image] compared to the right hip [left side of image] in your dog more apparent. IMO, these hips will likely rate OFA fair [fast normal] or borderline [noch zugelassen] (if you are unlucky); it partly depends if mild remodelling is apparent on the original radiograph. The resolution of your picture is not clear enough to tell for sure, since mild remodelling could merely show as small bone spurs or "rim" formation at the transition from the hip ball to the neck of the long bone. I expect the dog to be working sound either way though

If PennHip was reconized by UScA I would have done PennHip, but it's not so here we are. 

The films were taken by Colonial Vet Hosp in Ithaca, NY (http://www.colonialvet.com/)  They told me slight issue in hips but to go ahead and send them in.

I actually already know the OFA rating...she came back mild dysplaysia.  Now I'm wondering if it would be worth sending to SV to get another opinion and what the procedure is to do that.  More & more I'm seeing how many people are displeased with OFA.  From what little I have looked into SV thus far, I understand I have to go through UScA?  If any of you know the particulars I'd greatly appreciate knowing how the process works (or if it's even worth it). 

You would never know it by looking at her or by the way she moves!  One of my friends calls her the "pocket rocket."  I'm going to keep right on training her and at any sign of discomfort I'll retire her.  I'm hoping she'll have a long, full and successful SchH career. 

Interesting. I had to xray 2 littermates 2 times to get them certified. First time both came back as mild HD. Re-did both the next week and they both received good ratings. 2 different vets, 2 different owners in 2 different states. I can see that these hips aren't perfect but I sure don't see mild HD when compared to other xrays I've seen of GSD's that got fairs and good. Freinds routinely re-xray dogs to get better ratings and most times that is what happens. What do  you have to lose by submitting them to the SV?

Buy you got a unfair rating. I would re submit to OFA you deserve no worse than fair. Actually I have seen much worse get good. You will get A1 from SV. You can go via USA or WDA to submit. I send all my films to them now costs more takes longer but you will get what you deserve

That didn't surprise me, that's what my dogs hips looked like, and she didn't pass either. sorry!

It surprised me given I've personally seen worse hips pass with a fair or a borderline with a request for a re-do.

OFA critera for grading xrays. 

I would swim the dog as much as possible for the whole summer to reduce the laxity and then resubmit.

I agree with Sitasmom;  swim and resubmit and be sure she is not too close to her season, and not to close out of season.  Right in the middle would be good.  BOL  Nan
