I often train with Kevin once a week, in fact I think I'm Vice President of the club, lol.  I train somewhere else on weekends but I train w/ Kevin's group on Thursdays, nice location, they've got some equipment I don't have, work my dogs with a suit.  I can't really speak to the quality of his particular dogs but he doesn't have an ego, at least not with me.  He does what I ask when I'm working my dogs.  Haven't been out in a few weeks b/c of weather and busy preparing a dog for a Schutzhund trial.  I paid $135, no other fees on top of that, and we used club money to register the younger dogs with SDA.  I don't really need help with my training but I felt it was worth $135 to have two guys do some decoy work for me and have a nice alternative location to work obedience and track.

Judy P do I know you?  I've lived in Grand Rapids for 27 years.  Who do you train with? Nino?

Having someone do as you ask when working your dogs is almost priceless.

I wouldn't say Kevin is the most experienced guy out there but I feel I could do a lot worse and yes, having some decoys that do what I ask, how I ask it and aren't out there trying to run my dogs down or prove this or that is worth the $135 to me.  I've finally got to the point where I'm comfortable being in charge of my own programs with my dogs and that includes their protection work.  For example right now I'm preparing for a Schutzhund trial so no one is working my dog but my Schutzhund helper.  I haven't been out to SDA in a few weeks but I know if I did Kevin wouldn't be pressuring me to work my dog on the suit if I didn't want to.  He has a lot of patience working with dogs (and handlers, maybe even moreso the handlers) that are not easy to train b/c of any combo of genetics, breed, handler inexperience.  I'm not trying to advertise, I don't train at his other facility or have one of his dogs, I'm just part of the SDA club.  His breeding program and training business I can't comment on, other than I've seen the puppy he held back a few times and it's a really nice puppy (IMO).
