I still use the Koehler method with the hose with a dowel taped in it across the face method. I have no idea if anyone has even heard of that, and I have not had to use it in well over a decade. I send DA cases back to the breeder, as they are of no use whatsoever to me.

I've heard of the Koehler stick thing. Not how I would handle it, but I wouldn't handle it with kisses and gumdrops, either.
Cowboybob, where are you located? I'm sure someone can direct you to a good trainer in your area. A good experienced trainer is all the behaviorist you need.

I think his method is very clear, and works very well. It is not for a weak dog that is frightened, it is for a dog that wants all out war right away. I used it with clients dogs, and the dogs had gotten away with this crap for years. It was not dealt with right away, or even close. Just want to make sure people know the situation I used it for.
If you have never heard of it, go and read what Koehler wrote on the subject, and not what someone else's version is.
