no problem - just best to ask permission before using a picture, or better yet use a picture of a dog of your own to use for a personal avatar. YES - no matter how you feel about it - the dog in the picture IS mine, I own him - and since I took the picture I own it too. So pictures are "totally private". Admire them, but no you can't use them without permission from the owner. But don't get your panties in a wad - the dog in your avatar now is good looking too - is he yours?

yes this is a picture of my male and i believe if you can google dark sable german shepherd and bring up your dog it isnt private do not put anything online inless you want it printed in the new york times. if you want it private password protect it. this is my 4 year old male who was put down last month due to haveing lymphatic cancer.
also i personaly would be happy as hell if people liked my dog enough they wanted pictures of him but of coarse i tend to be proud of my dogs not post them everywhere and then be a stickler and if i get another private message i do feel i shall shoot someone. or atleast have my dog pee in their shoes.

Beautiful dog - sorry about your loss. Way too young, very sad to hear it.
Pictures are private property just like dogs are. You simply can't see a picture of someone else's dog on the internet or anywhere else, and take it (steal it) for your own use. Photographs are copyrighted by law as owned by the photographer, just as dogs are owned by law by the person who owns/purchases it. You wouldn't take a dog that you admired because it was standing on public property and claim it as your own, right? Because it's not your dog. So, you can't take a picture of someone else's dog even if it's on public internet sites and claim it as your own, without permission from the owner. That's how it works.
I'm really honored you like my dog and admired his picture. Thank you for removing it on request and replacing it with your own gorgeous dog.

Probably not going to make any friends with this comment but DDR - to me is kind of like Santa Clause or Valentines Day IMHO. At one point in history it had a meaningful purpose but now is a just commercialized way of marketing something. Not boxes of chocolates or greeting cards but puppies & stud fees. Making money/selling dogs and puppies is fine with me but buyer beware -
DDR does not = "quality"
Yes of course it is way to define what bloodline/pedigree a dog has and different lines offer different "breed type" but if I had to guess, the genuine DDR dogs of yesteryear are nearly if not completely extinct. Nice looking pup BTW..... just trying to help keep this on topic

daWgESOME I think you are 100% correct. As with any line you cannot be sure that you will get a "quality" pup/dog no matter what the line is.

Yes, it doesn't matter what line it is, West German Showline, West German Working line, East German/DDR descendents, Czech, American, etc You have to determine the quality based on your own definition of what "qualtiy" is. Everybody has their own crterion.
There are many people who resent "DDR" dogs for whatever reasons.
I have two dogs descended from 100% DDR bloodlines (obviously, there is no more E Germany, DUH!) I know it will someday in the not too distant future, be just tooooooo small a gene pool. It is getting harder and harder.
They both have the qualities I admire. Steady nerves, calm demeanor, medium prey drive, strong defense, extremely loyal and quiet unless there is a good reason. I could not live with a prey monster that rushes back and forth with incessant shrill barking.
I started Pharaoh in schutzhund and the training director was very pleased, but I have moved and now it is just too far for this oldster. Maybe something will change now that I am settled in.
They are also dark, big boned and beautiful.

I bet you're a better sport than some people I know, and don't mind a couple finishing touches on your picture.
