I can see $30,000 tops for a "Professionally Trained" PPD, and at that price it better be able to bury the shovel it buried the POS with. JMO
There's a sucker born every minute
P.T. Barnum is attributed to this quote, but when asked, he refuted ever having said it.

I admit to never seeing a $230,000 dog. But I would compare this to me selling you my $30,000 car for the bargain price of $$200,000. It is not crime and it is your bussiness how you spend your money. But somewhere along the line wool is being pulled over some ones eyes or someone may just have money to burn.
I couldnt imagine sending a dog on someone with that price tag. I would be more like do what you want to me, just dont tough the dog. I am no doubt missing something here.

Do you know just how much money you can save just by doing that? Any fricken dog can bark at strangers. Even fear biters bark at strangers behind the fense.
Money sure makes people dumb.

That would pay the salary of a few martial art expert body guards, equipts with guns and dogs, for a few years...

Can't the buyer go on the internet and research dogs?
Can't the buyer go to their local PD and inquire about where they get their dogs, training and costs?
This isn't like the whole home mortgage crisi or ponzi scheme.
These people can research and check out and "GOOGLE"
They WANT to pay that for a dog and they CAN pay that much for a dog They like being able to tell and impress people with how much they paid. People do it all the time. Heck regular people who buy dogs love to brag about how they paid $6,000 or $12,000 for a imported dog from another country. No different.
Would I pay that much?? Hell no. I would never even if I had the money but then again I don't have that kinda money either...lol
The article alone was enough to get them in the NY Times and all of us and anyone else that read it, to talk about them. They want and got the "Look at me..." complex and it worked.

Why do you think that "wool is not being pulled over their eyes". This happens quite a bit in the dog world. Even to "dog people", they get taken as well, every so often. You dont honestly think these people are spending this money because they know dogs? I hope not! Even those who supposdly know dogs differ opinions all the time. Green people get taken often. I see these as probably rich green people who paid for more than what they got. And the fact that they have lots of money dosnt change the fact that they paid for more than what they got.
Anyone out there got a video of a $230,000 dog?

I paid $1600 for a puppy and people think I am nuts and crazy. I think making $65,000/year is living in poverty....some would disagree.
Saying "buy a gun" is easy but not everyone is prepared to SHOOT a gun.
Let me ask this....
If that dog happens to scare off a burglar and protect the handler from somone at home or in public....or even their kids.....do you still talk about price then?
