LMH..nice post.. sad to see they want $3000.00 cause someone will buy her and try to turn a profit.
I'd be embarassed to put that photo on this board were I her owner. Let's hope this bitch gets lucky and finds a forever home where she will not be exploited. It's depressing...............
I just saw an ad on another board offering a retired bitch in much the same kind way LMH has spoke of. It did my heart good and even if no one appropriate is interested in this bitch, I feel certain she will live out her life as a beloved animal. There are some kind people in this cruel world.
No Kidding Blitzen,
That poor girl looks TERRIBLE! Not only would I not advertise a picture of a dog looking to be in that poor a condition, but I'm not that cruel of a person to my females. My girls retire after three litters, over a total of three years...needless to say, I do have the occasional female wandering my yard that is not only fixed but a nice house dog. All of my dogs recieve the best care, and look NOTHING like that at 6 years old! Looks like a case of animal cruelty to me...KEY WORD: LOOKS like a case of animal cruelty...TO ME. I'm not trying to start anything on here.
I've seen a number of adds showing a YOUNG bitch..... good price.....
dob ....1998. People are trying to free up kennel space and capital.
blueskyekennels,
Three years and only three litters is certainly admirable, BUT realistically people that work within the SV system of titling/showing, ect., are going to get more for their cumulative efforts than three litters of puppies. By the time you get her SchH1 and V rating, ect., she is 2 years old, almost. Three years later she is 5 and in her prime, why stop breeding her then? It is more than a notion to get a female ready for breeding, with all the training involved to take that approach, in my opinion. Most folk I talk to breed until the female is 7 and if she is GOOD shape, until she is 8 years old. Personally I think 5- 5.5years of breeding a female, as long as she is properly cared for and conditioned is totally acceptable. She will live until 12-15 years old, probably.
Sorry Stephen,
Once again, I should've spesified...Golden Retrievers, not Shepherds. The titles I can and do get on my girls are CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and the full therepy license. Sorry again all for the mix up,
Krista
She does not look extremely thin to me...she could use a little more weight, maybe, but she also looks fit, tucked up and trim. Her hindquarters have good flesh. She does have nice looking bone. I like her look, and I breed working-line dogs. Most of my bitches are too fat for good health, and my Schutzhund club members tease me unmercifully! :-)
Might want to check out the seller's website before speculating about cruelty. Agree that the picture isn't going to help sell the dog, but the other dogs all look robust and there are any number of reasons why this dog may be thin.
Breeding Frequency
SV Regulation- A female may be bred twice within twelve months unless she is raising more than eight puppies in the litter. In this case she may be bred again six months after the date of whelping.
USA Regulation: Healthy females may be bred twice per year.
Number of Puppies in Litter
SV Regulation: The number of puppies that a female may nurse is restricted to eight puppies per litter, the other puppies must be raised by a foster dam.
USA Regulation- The dam may rear all puppies whelped.
