Calvin, I remember you, now. If I am not mistaken you got into this about a year ago, or so. Even called me and we talked a bit. You are a fast mover! Sounds like it's been an expensive first year for you. It's a huge learning curve, but I have got to give you credit for at least plunging in head first, into those deep waters! Like I told you before, I have never made a profit and maybe one year I might just break even. Who knows, who cares....The dogs are the MOST! Stephen

Stephen, You are correct. I owe you a huge debt, if you hadn't taken time to talk with me I'd probably not ever gotten the papers for my bitch. When we first bought her we were "wooed" with the aspect of easy money. The paperwork issue came up right after the bitch came home from the breeder I was "splitting" the sales with. The second go around I did it all myself with A LOT of help from 2 very decent breeders in my area. I learned that it is: a lot of work, I loved it, now is not the right time. I consider myself lucky in a way, the litter was a success, I found good homes for the pups, I learned a *whole* lot and I went through a lot of the less glamerous issues the first go around and won't forget the lessons learned. Thank you again because you played a part in at all. -Calvin

Black Beauty, Hard to tell a dogs temperament by a photo. Honestly is there some reason you must import a dog ? We have many many nice dogs in USA that you can go see for yourself what they are all about, Go watch them train, look at movement, look over the structure of the dog, and so much more. There are some Breeders in USA who have excellent working dogs, that have great temperaments, and are structurally sound as well, Honestly I don't think I will ever import a dog. Just my 2 cents. I will say though that I WAS under the impression as are many people that if you import it; It must be better. I don't beleive that anymore.

Well said Cledford, the same thing happened to me. You have to dive in and learn. Now we know what to look for and avoid the next time around. I have to sit back and "recover" from my first litter as well. Not as easy and profitable as they make it sound. Maybe, just maybe, I will try again someday.

You had better know what you are doing if you import! Best to find someone in USA that you can trust who travels to Europe and has connections. Lots of horror stories on imports and I agree you will likely find a better pup here in the USA anyway. Hard to get a top dog out of Germany if you have no experience.
