This is the cut on his pad.  It looks clean to me.  Do I need to be worried.  He just rips the bandage that I put on it off.  And he is not limping

Jwalker, why don't you take him to your vet so YOU can feel better? I have done what faq2 suggested to myself, meaning I have cut my hand while working, cleaned it then put super glue on it. I have not had to do it with my dog so I don't know but it worked great for my hand. You might be able to rest easier if you just go see the vet. Take care, Jennifer

I would clean it at least once a day with an antiseptic cleanser...I just purchased a product called Vetericyn....It is a little expensive compared to a regular antiseptic cleanser, but it had good reviews on line....

I would fill the tub with shallow water or use a bowl and soak the foot in some warm water and wash it with antiseptic cleaner or a antibacterial soap. Keep it dry..Keep an eye on it for at  least a couple of days. If it gets red, warm, has a foul smelling drainage, or seem to be getting worse I would see your vet.....:

I have a portable vet on the way to the house.  I just cant help it.  I would rather be to cautious than negligent.  If something was to happen and it got infected I would feel horrible.  IM sure wants I get more experience with stuff like this I will feel more comfortable.

The important thing is for your to feel comfortable, after about 18 years of having GSDs sometimes I'm still neurotic on occasion, no shame in that. I think you will be able to relax after the vet visits, keep us updated, Jennifer

Better safe than sorry.  I once had a dog that had a deep cut to its pad and had to get stitches.  At least the vet can check for infection.

Vet just left and she said that he was fine.  She wrapped it and I told her that I didn't think that he would keep it on and she said "oh it will be ok.  He wont mess with it"  I said "If you say so"  Before she even left he had ripped it off and had it in his mouth wanting her to try and grab it so that he could play keep away.  LOL...She put some ointment on it and said that it would probably continue to bleed here and there just because when he walks around he may open it back up.  But she said not to worry and that it would be good in a week or so and to just let him relax till then.

Thanks for all that made me feel better about it.
