Red Sable,

In a few days I will take new pictures of Erri, maybe a short video too and post them, he limped on his left arm but seems okay now. I think you are correct he was more red at younger age. I think your girl is darker now too and her coat is full.

Yes, Candi did get darker and redder it seems, although back when I took that puppy pic, my computer monitor was set darker, and me not knowing that, thought the pics were dark and lightened alot of them. Duh. So the colour isn't that accurate.

I"ve never seen a sable get lighter, I've seen some that have white in their pedigree lighten up as they get older though.

I have a 3 yr old sable girl that started out dark and she lightened up. By the way no whites in her pedigree. Her mom was a blanket blk/tan and her dad was a sable. Here are a couple of pics of her then and now.

No Destiny the dog in my avatar is her father. She is just a much loved pet---she was the runt and I kept her back just because I liked her. I had her spayed and she will always live here with me. Her name is Sister and she just had her birthday--she was a Valentine's puppy......................

Sables usually get lighter between 2-4 months (before changing the puppy coat) but then they tend to get darker with age.
