Kirschental in Germany is a well known herding dog kennel established in the 1950's . They produced many SV herding dog champions.
I have heard that Winifried Strickland introduced some Kirschental dogs to her breeding program, but I don't know the dogs names.

You're right about the kennel in Germany--that is where some of the dogs on my gsd's pedigree were bred.

I have met an imported male who was bought directly from Kirschental. He is an incredible dog. He's hard as nails and gorgeous to look at, too. I also saw two of his pups on the ground. Both were very intelligent and picking up on their obedience like they were born knowing the commands.

It takes intelligent dogs like gsds to learn herding commands and it takes a dedicated individual like Kirschental to breed and train the dogs.  Wish I could have seen those dogs Ramage.

Herr Ernst Lechner is the founder of Kirschental kennel. "Kirschental" (cherry valley) refers to the area they live. You can contact Mr or Mrs Füller at the kennel for further info.

I personally like to have some influence of specifically bred herding dog in my working dog. My current dog has some Kirschental on Vito's side.

Hi qqturner,

My little black girl Ella has some Kirschental HGH dogs in her background, I love to go sheep herding so I chose her dad cause of those lines, plus I also loved the DDR lines he has too!

This is Ella pictured on the far left, haven't officially named her yet:

Also check-out this link I just came across,

Yes they are known to be very well in the show and herding, true to the breed! have you ever seen the breeder traumhof? she has sherry vom kirschental, a yasko son..she wrote about her life with her dogs, and especially on Sherry. Kirschental produces some very nice dogs, with beauty and great temperament and working ability IMO. I have honestly never seen anyone unhappy with a dog with Kirschental dogs thrown in there. However, I saw that the dog Panjo (GORGEOUS!!) has a high ZW, I prefer dogs with a lower..:))

But anyways, in general, I love them!
