None of this even matters.

Not to be rude but I am assured that the mix breed dogs the poster owns does not have the stamina to complete all aspects of the word.. Protection!  Personally I adore mix breed dogs but as duly noted the dogs that this nasty individual owns has not been through the regiment of what our dogs are and have been.

Dogs are and can be a true dedication to its master mind you the master is the one that should become educated. Not only of breed standards, but training and health. Therefore I suggest to the OP when you take hundreds of consistent hours, of proper training, both hands on and written. Invest in health clearances along with registrations.. Then and only then do you have the ability to speak out..

What i see from the notation here is the Op intended to purchase a fully trained Canine and could not afford the price thus decided to ridicule others. Don't have the money, time nor willingness to learn then, take your sorry backside and go play with the dogs you have. Leave the breeding and training to those who appreciate it, and if you can not afford the dog thats no ones problem but yours..

I remember years and years ago Phl Hoelcher sold Kazan vom Anger for 10k as a personal protection dog www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/5946.html that dog wasn't civil at all!! 20k is subjective to some people thats a lot of money to other people not so much

Wow!

The absence of professionalism, the rudeness, and lack of knowledge communicated by certain individuals on this forum is beyond my comprehension.

Folks take a look you too Uber where Actor Steven Segal bought his s dogs from they were in neighborhood of $65K each . Think Canine International POrotection dogs, youll have to google both to find the web VB

The way I look at it is if you have the 20K to spend on a dog then God bless you.  There are many people who do in fact have this extra money to spend and want what THEY PERCIEVE to be the finest dog available. I have seen some of these dogs in different videos etc... and as a police K9 trainer I just chuckle to myself, but hey who's to judge.

frank .. HMMM . i do see your point .... that's why i prefer to have my GSDFs asa pups as opposed to buying an already titled dog .. 20 thou is a lot of cookies . ok .. no argument ... nor am i going to say some GSDs are not worth that sum .. even considering one of my staff members just spen 30,000. for a Frision ? spelling horse]. IMO the animalis worth ... what value you are willing to assign to it and are willing to compensate the sellr for it . purely a subjective matter. and .. as olne who also worked in law enforcement and also had experience canine officers.. , this may not be fair .. so you need not respond BUT .. i was curious ?? would a police K( be worth that sum to you or another officer ... especially it is there to save your life if need be?? not being smarty pants .. i was prurely curiuos what officers think in that respect.. i had an officer friend that trained his own dogs.. and .. couldn't blame him ..he did a superb job and had great GSDs !!

Alphapup...your point is well taken. In my experience there is the cost of the dog itself, say 6,000 for a basically green dog. then add in the vet checks that most departments do well in excess of 500.00. Then add in the 16 week( sometimes more)  training course, time paid to the handler, the cost of training equipment, up keep, loging expenses, and soon you will see that the 20,000 gets eaten up pretty fast.  SO now you have a dog with all that time and money invested...... Is the dog worth it?? That depends, to the department if the dog makes one good dope find he paid for himself many times over.  If he someday saves his handler's life you bet he was worh it!!!  When it's all said and done if every one is happy and the dog does his job and Daddy returns home safe at night is all that really matters.

the mix breed dogs I have, the heeler mix, is a small 35 lb little rocket, who can launch from 6ft away, thats how she tagged the last person who reached over my fence to unlatch the gait unannounced.
just because it is purebred, does not mean it has the stamina to out work a mix breed, check out the dutchie and mal mixes being worked, even the pit crosses some people handle.

and lets not start attacking people. I personally would not spend 20,000 on a PPD, I've seen too many business in my area slinging them left and right and they are not worth the money, too many regular joe blows out here" train" dangerous, bite anything that moves dogs, and then sell them to the public as PPD.

wouldn't say Steven Segal is highly intelligent either.  the man can kill someone with his bare hands (or could before he got fat) what does he need a PPD dog for? from what I gather, the dude is an ego maniac and had 65,000 to blow.  sounds again like it was an ego trip and status thing.
