Hi Ali,

First of all, please bear in mind, that we are all looking at a working dog .
The standard is the same ,be it working or show.

Good size, medium strong,Grey dog ,slighty long in proportion(the loin area),
looks to be with good musculature, dry and firm.
Very good head and expression , high withers , a firm back,
with a croup of good lay,but short and showing a good top line.
very good front angulations, with a very good lay of shoulder blade,
(showing a good length of neck),
with a slighty short and steep upper arm. The depth of chest is very good ,
but there should be a better length of brisket and a better forechest.
Very good hind angulations where the turn of stifle could be better.
Stands strait in front with good pasterns.

Ali he looks fine now . just wait till he matures at about two and a half years
he will look fantastic
.
All the best

Sonora,

Whenever someone asks for a critique I hold my breath waiting for what you have to say (also Debi). Your critique is precise and to the point, very elegant and the terms you use are so technical, my God it is a joy to look at a dog and read your critique. Sonora I thank you for sharing your knowledge and views with us, thank you.

Dog looks good.  Angulation of hind quarters
is good IMO. Shoulder is however way too straight....which is not too important.
I also have looked at the pedigree and lack of hips evaluations on the mother and others is of major concern if it is not available.

Alirod12,

This is a beautiful dog.  Lovely coloring, good pigment.  Strong, masculine face & expression, nice ear set, good stop.  His head sets nicely on his neck which flows smoothly into his shoulders and chest.  The shoulder looks straighter in one picture than the others and if his feet were under him more it would look better.  He has a very nice strong topline and croup.  The hindquaters are angulated nicely and appear to be strong enough to compensate for any lack of reach in the forequarters and should drive him forward powerfully.  I hazard a guess here that he moves nicely.  What I can see of his feet look good and tight, no splaying.  His chest is deep and not overly narrow or wide but proportionate to the rest of his body.  This is a very nicely balanced dog.  I like his focus in the one headshot however I believe that pic does not do his shoulder justice.  I do not think his forearm is that short or his shoulder that straight...I'm thinking it is the angle...I'd crop that picture to just a headshot.  Lovely at this age, it will be nice seeing him in another year or two.  Oh, and he appears to be at the perfect weight.  He is NOT too skinny.  He will bulk out more as he matures.  Congrats on a fine animal.

and Britney034,
Your koda has a very striking face!

Ibrahim,
I haven't been on here much lately and it is good to see you posting.  I haven't seen much of you on here.  Hope you are well my friend and you flatter me, as always.  It is hard to follow your critiques as you don't miss much and do a fine job of it yourself!

DebiSue,

Yes I was away for sometime but I am doing fine in all aspects except business which is way down here this year. Your above critique is one of the best and thorough I have read so far, you always amaze me with your strong eye, I knew you had a distinguished one for the GSD structure but from the above critique I now know it is not only that, you perceive very well how the various components of the structure interact with each other to creat a well balanced GSD.
I think I can claim that a GSD structure components may not all be very perfect but if they are proportionate and interact together correctly they make a balanced GSD which can trot and move without clumsiness or extra effort, please correct me if what I concluded is wrong !!
Would be lovely to see more educated critiques on this dog and any added info on the GSD structure/conformatin is more than welcome. Thank you Alirod for this post which brought some very good critiques.

I want him...For a dog of his age ,he has a strong head with good expression.Good musculature. His neck is the correct length and it is strong(as is the jaw).Clean topline and underline. The upper arm could be longer and better angulated. The croup is short and slightly steep. He has a nice front.
Overall good body proportions ,and he is presented in exellent condition.

He seems to be a real worker ,and I think when he matures ,he's gonna be a stunner.Congrats to his owner!
