Sorry I don't have an exact answer for why so few entries but from Donna's above post says this region is not know for having a large turn out.  Someone more involved in the politics would have a better explanation then me JMHO- the people who are training are geographially scattered & generally keep to them selves.  Personaly I tried  the "club thing" for over a year and am now "flying solo" (so to speak) and it is an up hill battle for sure.

AND>>>>>>>>> on a more positive note, I took 300 some odd photos and will be posting some of my favoites soon! Since it will include Mals, a Dutchie & a Rott I'm going to go over to the "main" board to post them.

Pat,
We are a small region as far as the number of clubs (12) in a very spread out area with large (land mass) states that are not densely populated, except for the Chicagoland area.
If you look at the ratio of entries per club it comes out to 60% (12 clubs divided by 20 entries)
If you look at the New England Region, which would easily fit in to Wisconsin and pick any other state in our region, you have 20 clubs in a relatively densely populated area. You have 37 entries this coming weekend.
If you do the math you have a ratio of 54%, so, I guess you would have to answer why you have fewer entries on a relative basis than our region?

Looking forward to seeing the pics.

What kind of math is that?
You have more square feet and acres and less clubs because you cannot ROCK LIKE THE NEW ENGLAND REGION
The questions why does you're region have so few clubs

In terms of entries, 1 judge is only allowed I believe 36 units to judge per day, 1 unit being 1 phase for each dog.  We were actually full at the time entries were closed.  Then unforeseen pulls, etc.  Believe me it was a full weekend.  It was a great weekend and I am glad to have been part of it.

Who the f are you Pat? Jesus!  I am grateful to those I train with, doubt I'd feel too welcome in your club, being NEW to the sport myself. Life is too short for such BS, really. The entire population of south Dakota is a minute fraction of the population of a mid-size city in the NE. I have also heard that several clubs in dense areas like the NE have no room for new members, how helpful is that to the new schutzhunder?  Maybe the correct question is why aren't more people NATIONALLY involved with the sport? Why are there NO clubs in the Dakotas and Wyoming? I don't know, maybe because the ranchers use cattle dogs and have dogs with real jobs, who knows? The cost of time and money to the sport?  No access to people who know it and want to live there? So who wants to "Rock like NE" ?  Not me.  I like quality, not quantity.
This I know for sure, we tried to welcome and support each other this weekend.  Our club worked very hard to do this.  Just go create your own thread and buzz off.

peace
