No, what I meant by aging was this: I was asking Molly how old is old enough in her opinion to say that a dog is solid black and not going to acquire any lighter markings. Sorry to be confusing.

I'll have to hunt for the links,
One site was Jeenellyn kennels, this lady passed away but the site has many links to blacks and much more.
One other was Black Knight Kennel in Jupiter Fla.

I'm just not all that impressed with the show lines tho.
I almost bought one from Black Knight Kennel.

I'll look for the link

Yikes!!!

Covy Tucker all over rhe pedigrees-danger......run away .......

Covy Tucker Hill in large part contributed to the collie heads, totally flat rib cages and super long hocks and weak pasterns.

Fear biters anyone?

Then there was the best in working blacks website where you could clearly see the white patch on a puppy covered over black with a poor version of photoshop...

I have never seen a black German show-line either.  I assume we are talking about black AMERICAN show lines then?  I don't see what that has to do with the conversation - assume we are talking about German lines?  Maybe I am mistaken.

Since it's 20X more difficult and more expensive to shown and finish a black of 100% the same physical and mental quality as a Black and Red very few competitive show kennels will focus on the black (or for that matter Sable) colored dogs.  You might see a few popping up here or there, but even 30 years ago when Phantom and UFO were being shown and became Select dogs it wasn't popular in the US to campain black dogs.
Same thing seems to be true in Import lines... Though there are a # of "V" rated blacks and sables from working lines. Personally I like the conformation of those dogs better than the High Line show dogs. They're generally not so closely bred, and don't have the overbuilt humpbacks, nor unstable hocks.

My current puppy is from a V rated all Black," Arctic vom Dragonhaus", and this puppy has the structure of the nice V rated workinglines that you see today. His father had second highest prtection score in Canadian National last year. Though this puppy is sable he carries the black gene genetically as do my females.

Gustav, Do you know who owns Artic vom Dragonhaus now? He is a gorgeous black.
