We havent specified that non - standard colour dogs can enter, but we have stated that it is for K.C. registered dogs - long coat..... Mo Mascani.

So is that a "Yes" or a "No"?
Just curious what faults are being considered acceptable

IMHO
I think it is fair to say that many faults might be acceptable to some degree and dependant on what you have to compare to.
- The German standard cites the "short coat" as the standard - long coat with undercoat is undesirable but might be OK for breeding, long coat with no undercoat is undesirable. Length of coat is not cited as a fault. Blue, albino or white colouring is cited as a fault.
- No length of coat is specified in the UK standard, undercoat is required, mole coat is undesirable. Blues, livers, albinos and whites are classed as highly undesirable.

But this show will be judged to the *UK* Standard which actually states no hard and fast rules on coat length so I am wondering why the "special" c lasses for long coats?

I suspect that we would not get long coats entering in standard classes - they rarely do anywhere else.
Open shows struggle to break even and this seems to bring together standard show exhibitors and the long coat enthusiasts (who hold their own events so we are not starting soemthing new) in an event which then has more chance of happening in future because it won't have lost quite as much money.
I know money spoils many good tales but we don't feel that it is extremeley detrimental to the breed - what do you think?

I agree. Money spoils many good tales.
