I have called mine a sable tan but someone from GSD rescue called her a wolf sable ? All I know is I get tons of compliments on her ........... :D

update...Bailey is now 6.5 months...she completed her OB class, currently working on tracking.

Wow, I love sables so much, especially dark sables. Hopefully my next dog will be sable. So many good pictures, too.

So, I have a question for the smart people here. Do you think this dog is sable? This is my mom's GSD, and I thought she was just a black and tan, without much black, but I came across a 'cream' sable online, and it looked like her. I really have no clue, I was just curious. We got her at a year old, so I have no clue what she looked like as a puppy, but I think at least one of her parents were sable (I would have to check her ped again). Her papers say black and tan for her. Thanks! :)

Leffew4116, I knew a breeder in Memphis that had a GSD that color......When I asked what color he considered it to be, he said it was a red sable....The under coat was cream and the tips were red....The sire was solid black and the mom was a normal color sable, tan undercoat with black tips. He said that if he bred that black dog to a sable he would produce at least one that color....That color became a very popular color in that area....Also the pedigrees were full German.....
