What a wonderful GSD Abbie is. You were lucky to find her and she was lucky to find you.
Did you do the DNA test?
I'm sorry to hear she is ill. Enjoy every precious minute.

Thank you GSDSRULE :) My sister is mailing me the kit. She and the lady interested live in Texas. I'll let you know what the results are.

Panda Mom: I am getting a Panda too from Cindy in Ohio. I think they are beautiful dogs! When did you get yours? I should be getting mine by beginning of November.
Granted I'm not a breeder, but I think it's crual to kill these dogs because they are the wrong color. I believe they are a GSD with a color mutation, plain and simple. If they maintain the working ability and temperment of the standard GSD, then what is the problem? No one is asking them to be acceptable in the ring. Some people, like me, just want one for a pet!

I agree with you. It is most likely that my Abbie is not a "panda." However she came to be, I am greatful. She is very GSD in behavior and personality and that is what I will look for in the next dog we make part of our family. I hope you have a lot of long happy loving years with your coming pup. Best wishes to you :)

VomRuiz,
I agree with the first reply to your idiotic comment. Euthanizing a pup because of their color or is ignorant and inhumane. I surely hope you are NOT a breeder and I certainly wouldn't give you any of my business. People like you disgust me and if karma exists, you will get yours one day.
To be clear, I agree that the dog should not be bred but that's where my agreement ends. It is simple enough to keep the dog in your possession until it is time to spay/neuter. However, this shouldn't even be necessary if you bother to thoroughly check out your clientele as any proper breeder would. My breeder would never even consider such a moronic and cruel act and has already proven so in the past by putting dogs with faults in good, non-show homes - easy enough.

Yes, why is it not ok to put these dogs in non-show homes and non-breeding homes? Maybe if I were a breeder myself, I would think diff about others breeding these dogs, but as a buyer who just wants a pet, I don't see what the big deal is! In my research about Pandas and German Shepherds, all I am finding is SNOBBERY and very rude people. I spoke with someone from the GSDCA and couldn't believe the attitude I immediately got from her- not professional at all. Lighten up people, some of us are just looking for pet!

I think that these dogs "with white" are pretty.
But I don't like GSD because of the way they look... so it's not really an issue on my radar map.
In fact, I can't say I like the GSD breed as a whole.
I like SOME individual GSD dogs- a whole lot - based on their temperament, intelligence, trainability, biddability, etc....
I'm one of those that like a dog the type of GSD that's calm and level headed when working, totally unlikely to bite strangers when out and about in public, outgoing, relaxed, fast learning and posessing an "off switch".
Therefore, regardless of color, I dislike the majority of GSD - even though some of the greatest dogs I've ever known were GSD.

I just don´t see that border collie or collie thing at all to be honest! Only thing what reminds of border collie is colour, nothing else. I see a german shepherd, just one with a "wrong colour". I just don´t get that border collie thing you talking about...

German shepherd is a great breed, but unfortunately I think that too many times they get to the wrong hands, to people who are not ready for big, strong, temperamentfull and very active dog. That is the reason why too many german shepherds are changing homes. This is a problem it is true. I personally, have a white shepherd. White shepherd also too many times have same problem, I was preapared to have active and big dog and I work with him and still there are days when he surprizes me with being unexostible, active, jouful, temperamentful and stong. Too many times this breed also gets to wrong hands just because of the nice looks. We forget the character behind the looks. That metters. Too many people are simply wrong for german shepherd breed. They need activity, they need time, they need a lot of training, working, they really are not made for just sleeping at sofa day after day... Too many forgets that and than they have to give them up as realize they are unable to give this dog time or unable to manage with such activity and temperament... Pitty. Great breed. But do not forget who they are. Looks should not rule the world! That comes to us people being too obsessed about the looks in everywhere lately......own and pets also...

Yeah Panda shepherds, are just a money scamming waste of time. There should be a law, which disallows the breeding of Panda shepherds. IN other words, a Panda shepherd cannot be bred. That should eventually get the line wiped out. And also dogs with the Panda gene, should not be bred with another dog of the Panda gene. IN this way, no panda gene, would be spread, and so therefore, you would eventually end up with German shepherds, that cannot produce the Panda color as they don't have the gene.
