Why would a "common dog thief" draw attention to himself by posting about the dog in the Lost and Found?
You're not going to get anywhere with that attitude. What you should do is call the guy back, apologize if you were rude to him during your earlier conversation, then offer to send HIM a picture of your dog. If he won't meet you or provide an email or home address where you can send the picture, then come up with a mutually agreeable location where you can leave the picture for him to pick up and review.

Another story.. A friend of mine many years ago lost three dogs. One dug out under the fence after a rain and all the others followed. One was named "Gina". Theresia looked for Gina in the shelters for two months and finally found her. She didn't even look like herself, anymore. She had been hit by a car and lost a lot of weight. This was a gorgeous bitch with a lot of temperament, and she became the mother of her best stud dog, Phantom, who was a super, super dog. So, don't give up. But seriously.. you should never let your dog roam, again. I will NEVER give or sell a dog to anyone who believes it's OK to let their dog roam free. I don't care if you are in the country. Lots of foolish people do this when they move to the country, but real country people would not allow it. These dogs get into trouble. They hook up with other dogs into packs and start to chase and harrass livestock. Farmers will shoot to kill, and bury the dog. You'll never know what happened. I don't blame them a bit. If someone's dogs were chasing my livestock or chewed up a horse of mine, those would be some dead ass dogs, for sure!
Well, Haley, I hate to say it, but you'd never get one of my dogs. I have passed up people as owners who I otherwise really liked, because they let their dogs run free. When I was giving away my former dogs from my kennel, I had a very nice male who could have gone to a nice guy a couple of states over, and then he made the mistake to tell me that his dog had gone missing for two weeks, once, and that the dog always ran free. That ended that! He did end up getting another dog that got run over twice by his jeep as it chased him down the access road. Hip joint on one side completely destroyed. I just don't believe in that..

was the dog wearing the same collar and the rabies tag when you last seen her?
Most tags have the vets information on it.
Excuse me if this has already been discussed.

Offer to meet him at a police station, or a park near a police or fire station. Or at the humane society. GO SEE THE DOG!
