YR, I suppose if Jackie is lying down when looking at your sideways flowers, it works, okay. The gyroscope thing in my iPad keeps moving at the same time I try to see it while turning it, and I am afraid it will give me a seizure! So, I feel compelled to set your vase to rights. Teeth Smile (I'll try to figure out why it keeps happening for you on the iPhone, if I get a chance.)

Keep up the good spirits, Jackie! I'll keep praying for your speedy recovery. That gas thing sounds VERY uncomfortable, poor you! Confused Smile Tell Carl to keep you tied down tight! Wouldn't want something like this to happen to you.... Omg Smile

Glad to hear you are home Jackie and that the surgery went well. Just keep sleeping and healing and having good dreams all the while. Keeping you in my thoughts.

ROTFLMAO, Bee!!! The flowers look better upright! And yes, that's what I feel like, like the house from Up!
And sweet Abby, I am sleeping a lot, but my dreams have been mostly pretty scary, being chased by things I can't see, trying to save Carl from them, my dogs trying to fight them off, (pretty easy to interpret!); but disturbing enough that I decided to try to sit up a bit today...I think it's either the anesthesia wearing off, or maybe the pain medicine...
Anyway, it's raining here, & it's kinda nice to have nothing to do & nowhere to go for a change...I can even cuddle my dogs a little, only Ansgar really lets me! She'd spend her life in my lap if she could, lol!
Thanks again, jackie harris

I'm sorry I had to wait until this morning to post, but I was too wiped out last night when we got home. I developed a neurogenic bladder, & had to have a catheter as well as iv fluids, more labs......no fun. I think I question how sensible it is to send someone home the same day after major abdominal surgery.....even my cat had to stay overnight at the vets after being spayed! jackie harris
ps. the infusion therapy nurses wanted to know what my symptoms were that I found this type of cancer so early, & I told them about Ansgar... they all want to meet my 'detector' dog! When I'm up to it I'll have to give her a 'spa' day & take her to meet them!

When I underwent an ovariohysterectomy, I was in the hospital for 3 days. However, I started to run a fever shortly after the surgery, and they didn't want to send me home until it had resolved.

Homecare nurses are great people, and very undervalued for what they do. When the doctors in the hospital drop the ball by sending someone home too soon, they are the ones that have to pick it up, and hope they don't miss something. (They're not doctors, after all.) Tell 'em this retired home care nurse said so!

Were you discharged on a Friday, Jackie?  (Checks calendar) Uh-huh. Thought so! That's known as 'hospital dump day'. The hospitals send home as many patients as they can, so they can cut back staff on the weekends and save money!  Sad Smile

I've sent many a patient back to hospital by ambulance on a Friday afternoon. Of course, talking to their doctor at that time is impossible...they've all buggered off for the weekend!  Angry Smile

(Oops, I just realized I made an assumption here that may not be correct. Looks like you didn't HAVE a homecare nurse, but a Personal Support Worker.)

Yes Sunsilver, I went home the same day after a total hysterectomy, bilateral salpoopharectomy(sp?) with complete pelvic and abdominal node dissection. No home health nurse referal. Not the next day, the same day, that ride home was the ride from hell! I did ok until the anesthesia was completely worn off! And I was willing, all I wanted was to get outta there! I don't think I was thinking too clearly! jackie harris

Jackie, that's INSANE!! Whatever has happened to the health care system?

What did you have for pain control? I had a pain pump, and could give myself a bolus when needed. Even the trip from the recovery room to my bed was excruciating...can't imagine riding in a car afterwards!  And my procedure was much less invasive than yours!

If you'd had to go back to the hospital, you would have had to pay for the ambulance ride, wouldn't you? Sad Smile
