Oh I agree, vk4, that it isn't enough for one person to have charge
of that many dogs,  whether or not many were still puppies, under any
circumstances.
On the other hand, it is difficult to dictate to owners that they should not
keep any dog they do not have time to train/work and provide attention for,
properly.  Believe me, I have tried !   And it may depend on the breed kept ...

But some of these situations can arise even with less dogs and where there
is some 'kennel help'/ a partner, whatever.  If I said "its ok you can go out at
the end of the afternoon cos I'll be back by then" but then I have a car accident
or breakdown, and I'm not back, then there could be dirty kennels awaiting me.
Sometimes. too, kennel help and partners etc are not so reliable that they'll do
any cleaning before they go out, ...talking real life here !
Case in point, my late mentor's much smaller kennel & no. of dogs;  she had a
partner, couple of foster kids, and I might still come round and find I had to pick
up before I could take anybody for exercise.  Shit happens, literally.

But what Sita'sMom says is true, too:  there are established ways of dealing with
people who keep too many dogs.  Unless there are huge parts of the story missing,
if 'zero tolerance' was applied to DV's case and no efforts were made to warn,
give time to make good, etc;   and if it is true the dogs were all in good condition,
then something stinks in this particular event (and it ain't the shit on the kennel
floor).

Zero tolerance! How can the term "Breeder'' be applied to this person! Can a pimp, with  whores under the age of 18 years, say he runs a Child care facility. Too many of these circumstances get ignored until the popalar opinion becomes ' why did someone not do something sooner''. DV makes life more difficult for every dog owner, not just breeders.

Hello Folks in the GSD Community, Worldwide.
There has been much conjecture about the conditions in which the vom Hunter Haus dogs were found.  Until now,
the photos were not posted , apparently due to the "offer" to Ms Verdeschi/ Jagr to help her with this tragedy.
Apparently also Ms Verdeschi has refused to ID, any dog, or any co owner or to cooperate in any way?
Regardless, here is the link to the photos of the scene.   I don't know whether to cry or throw up..
NO AMOUNT OF RATIONALIZATION MAKES THIS OKAY!!!!     I cannot feel sorry for any owner that
would do this.   As hard as I try, I can no longer feel sympathy for the owner as I did in the beginning, now I
only feel heartbroken for the dogs.   THIS IS SHAMEFUL

humane society here:

I think the photos speak volumes...at least they do to me.   But , you be the judge.
Don't shoot the messanger.  You can see the photos and read also the update on the Colombia Green Humane Society website.
If you havent' been moved to donate to the care of these dogs at the Colombia Greene Humane Society, please consider doing so,
any amount at all.

I couldn't get the link to work with cut-and-paste. Let's see if making it clickable does the trick...

Yes, that works, and those photos are stomach-churning!  Sick

Although the conditions they are being kept in are beyond filthy, they do look pretty well-fed, though.

Without comment...

I didn't see stacked crates. Just appalling conditions. The fact that the dogs weren't walking skeletons is irrelevant. Not fit for a dog. Or human. They all looked like they wanted out in the worst way! That's my comment. Who wants to defend this top notch breeder, now?

Double Sick Sick.

I don't think many are defending her, they're denouncing the seizure.  I still hold the same position.  The conditions were very bad, the dogs are in pretty good shape.  If it's not an emergency life and death situation, they should NOT have the power to seize anything.  But they did, so be it, when they do, you don't come out saying the dogs are your's, screw whomever else may be an owner because it doesn't matter and blah, blah, blah.  You get the dogs, you house them, you care for them, you remove them from their "imminent" danger until things can be sorted out.  or if the dogs themselves are in good shape you give so many hours to clean up the environment and have scheduled and unscheduled check ups frequently.
